View Full Version : Somebody bring me to my senses!!!
I've always had a "hankerin" for one of those Ingram M6 SMGs. The only way to get one is if I traded down and got one and some boot for my S&W M76 SMG. Anyone played with one of these before? I know, I know...I'll have something that I'll NEVER be able to get parts for and mags are about $150 a piece...but I think there a cool SMG. They have a two stage trigger, with a light pull firing semi-auto and pulling it all the way back is full-auto...kinda like the AUG. I hear they're the "Poor man's Tommy Gun" and I've always wanted one, but I'll never be able to replace my S&W M76 SMG. Got the 2 year "itch" gentlemen...talk to me !!!! Kimbo...out.

...I needed a slap in the face to snap me out of this "itch". But, I just think they're a cool SMG.
I have a SGN Treasury issue and they have a write-up about the M6 in there...but, it really didn't give any comparing to other SMGs, just wrote about the M6....just one gentleman's opinion, that's all.
I know if I DID get one, parts would be non-existant...and I simply WILL NOT pay $150 per magazine. I sold my friend who lives in Orlando an Armalite AR18 years ago when I was C3 back in the late 80's. He doesn't shoot it for the very same reason. He says if something breaks, he's SOL. He hasn't shot it in about 10 years...it's just a "safe queen."
So, I guess I better just keep my M76...she ain't eatin' nothing.
Thanks for your advise....but, I'd still want to hear from others about their experiences with the Ingram M6.
Thanks to all...Kim...out.
I held an Ingram M6 the other day...boy, it feels nice and feels so much better than a Tommy Gun, but looks just like one. I've always wanted one of those M6 Ingrams. But, I'd NEVER be able to replace my S&W M76 SMG. I just have that "2 year itch" and want something new to play with...maybe a Madsen M50, Ingram M6, another Reising or even a new Vector UZI with a .22 kit. I heard the UZI .22 kits work flawlessly. I'm just not a big fan of the UZI.
When I was a C3 dealer back in the late 80's/early 90's...I swear, I had every type of MG/SMG go through my books, even an M2 carbine or two or three. I'm not a big fan of the MAC's...they're just "bullet hoses" and you can't hit the broad side of a barn, even from the inside with them, so they're NOT an option...well, maybe if I could get all 3 MAC's, the M10 .45 and 9mm and a M11 .380 for my M76...that would be a cool collection...but I think I'd have to add some "boot" to that trade and that's not an option either.
Opinions? Suggestions? What I'd like to happen is to (MAYBE)trade my M76 off for something new in 9mm or .45 ACP and get some "boot" to pay some bills...that way, I'll still stay invested in the C3 market. Or, maybe I need another "slap" in the face to snap me out of this "hankerin" I have for another SMG and just hold on to my M76....afterall, I see them going over 10K in the next 5 years...no doubt. Afterall, who'd a thunk Reisings would be $3500 and MAC's would be $2500??
Thanks gentlemen. Kimbo...out.

I would like to own one of those .380 M-12s for some reason it just seems cool.
...is a cool SMG, too. It's the smallest SMG out there. But, at 1400 RPM, it has a ferocious appetite for .380 ammo.
I remember years ago, my friend shot his with a AWC suppressor and a 16 round magazine...I swear, it sounded like a BMW door shutting, that's how fast it was. It was out of ammo before the first empty case hit the ground.
The original Powder Springs guns are the ones to get. There are some RPB's out there, but there are some that were completed by SWD. Then there's the ones that take Zytel mags....I'd rather go with the original Powder Springs M11 with the 32 round metal magazines...and an AWC suppressor would make a cool addition, too. Gotta have something to hold on to.

The Ingram model 6 is a NICE SMG. I know, I am the proud owner of a "Poor Man's Thompson and it runs FLAWLESSLY!! (Bet you couldn't guess from my user name.) I don't know that I would trade a Smith 76 for one but I certainly wouldn't hesitate to buy one because of the way it looks.
At any rate mags are a problem but not an insurmountable one. Jerry Prasser at RECONORD in Fon du Lac, WI has converted mags (probably TSMG) available. Call him at (920) 922 1515. He is a stand up guy and a pleasure to do business with.
Now, I have a prototype adapter in my gun that allows me to use TSMG mags with little or no modification to the mag and no modification to the gun. Works quite well. And No, I don't want to sell my original Ingram mags.
My 2 cents worth.
