Hello everyone:
Brand new member so I thought I would get started right away with a question that I have wondered about. Sometime ago, a galil friend told me that only Action Arms of Philly imported Galils. I told him that I have a 223 galil that is stamped Springfield with number 21*****. He said he would look into it and get back to me but never did. Can anyone tell me what the deal is with springfield galils. Are they common or limited imports?

Thanks for your help.

markb, welcome to UZI Talk.

I don't know the timeframe or quantity of the Springfield imports but I do know they imported the Galils. Magnum research and UZI America (Mossberg) also imported them.

Springfield imported less than 1000 galils between 7/25/91 and 7/31/92. CDNN was a known vender. Models 386 and 710 in 5.56mm/ 329 in 7.62mm.

Only one of these Springfields was a pre-ban and it was imported for the SHOT show before the '89 ban. It was a 386 SAR version. Charlie Crawford of CDNN had it, sold it to me, and now Elvis has it...

and won't sell it back to me...

Hi, everyone. I was referred here by someone on another board.

I saw a Springfield Galil today. It was absolutely smeared with cosmoline and looked to be absolutely brand-new, or pretty close to it. It was labeled "Springfield 392" with a caliber of 5.56.

Silly me, I didn't pay too much attention to it. It had been there a while. It was covered in dust.

They were asking $1500 for it. Butthole wood stock, no flash hider and no threads for one, polymer SAR-type front grip.

Is this a good deal? What USA parts issues do I need to face? How easy is it to find mags and how much do they cost?

BTW, I'm pretty sure the caliber WAS 5.56, despite the label on the triggerguard. Barrel was too thin for 7.62, and the mag was all wrong for .308. Now that I think about it, it HAD to be 5.56.

Thanks! :)

Zaphod,

Go with a ORF Galil, you will not regret it. Comes with all Evil features. Mine is a tac driver, love to shoot it.

I think there is one guy on the Galil board who got a bad ORF, something about he trigger and tightness in the bolt. Rapid Fire is a good company, they will get it right.

My ORF Galil is flawless out of the box, mags are cheap!

$1500 is high............just my .02 cents

Who are they? Google doesn't give me anything... :(

If I can buy one with all the EEEEEEEEEvil features already there, AND save some $$$, I'm in! :D

ETA: Ah! Ohio Rapid Fire!

Boy! You're not kidding! For the extra $200, they deliver it BUILT already. That's impressive.

Damn! Another addition to the wishlist! Sigh...

Any other links will be useful!

I would love to have a IMI Galil. I have never seen a Springfield in person. Did it have that nice green Springfield box? Thanks, David
