Hey all,
Just got back from Knob Creek and had a great time! It was my first time and I'll be heading back every year now. My highlight was torching a fiberglass boat with a flamethrower. Other cool stuff included the miniguns, the pack howitzer, and the helicopter with the M60. Anyone who watches Country Music Television should watch on May 25th (roughly). The shoot will be covered on their show "Small Towns". Also keep your eye out when watching Jay Leno's Tonight show. Tom Green showed up to do a short clip for the show. Met the Guys from Vector and they were great. Jim Beam's only a half hour away so get a bottle while your there. ALso learned about this site, and will hope to see you guys there next year.

I will be on the CMT video wearing an UZI-Talk shirt so if you get accurate show time it would be appreciated. I think I will be in the blooper section of the video.

He was filming on the line and was filmed doing some shooting... I don't know much about him, but had some doubts when I seen him shoot a full auto glock in his right hand while holding a mike in his left and facing the camera not looking where he was shooting... If that glock got loose someone could have been hurt. Don't want any bad pr...

That's an interesting picture, Elvis. How much damage does something like that do to a machine gun? How much to put it right?

Well, I guess that's SOME folks idea of how to treat an M60!!
Heck, I had to put almost 30,000 words into SAR about how to TAKE CARE of the M60 guns.....makes me cringe, even for a Post-Sample! ;-)
Of course, if you guys haven't seen the AFJ video of the USORD M60E4 going straight through a 850rd continuous belt,,,,,,that's something to see too. Yeah, the guns ARE tough, I admit, but it ain't supposed to the goal to see if you can destroy them!! In answer to "how much damage does something like that do?"......a LOT, as in the BBL is possibly UNSAFE!! The stellite liner joint area will have become critical and the liner itself may have lost the integrity of the original seating, most will. Heat damages are cummulative, the M60 BBL design is not one to suffer easily, but it can be damaged to the point of becoming unsafe with enough thermal abuse. The problems arise when the differing thermal tolerances between the alloy steel and the stellite liner become an issue and allow the BBL steel to wear faster. WORST possible thing you can do is to quench a hot BBL like that.......only allow it to cool in ambient atmosphere!!!
KCR was fun this time out, we had the line spot "on the corner" just east of the end of the covered section, right before the large awnings. It's a secret little spot that's perfect!! We had several MG-42/MG-3's, PKM, M60E2, M249's and a freakin' MADSEN M1950 (how many have even SEEN a MADSEN gun??)
......only got one little 3rd degree burn from grabbing a damn '42 BBL, so not a bad time, this time out!

Hey, check out this little treasure I found at Knob Creek.
A mint condition uncirculated September 2000 SMALL ARMS REVIEW with the original Vector SMG article. I even got Ralph and Rex Merrill to autograph it for me. This issue also has a full page ad for the Vector SMG (only $2995).
