I did what I have told my friends not to do, I purchased my first UZI before knowing what I should or shouldn't look for. Im not sure if I gotten taken? I was told its a "real Uzi", whatever that means! The writing on the side says Action Arms, LTD Phila, Pa SA 44XXX and on the bottom it has a 15 stamped on it.

Can anyone explain what the 15 referees too?

What is the likelihood of finding replacement parts for it if its the real thing? This gun is beat up bad. The stock doesn't fold up all the way because its bent. The top cover has a big dent on it too.

It is a Imported Uzi Made/ assembled in Israel by IMI , imported by Action Arms prior to 89'. It should also have a Model B mark.
I'm not sure what the 15 stands for.

Replacement parts are a $ a dozen. But price ranges incredibly. from bargin to extrem outrageous.

Judging from your discribtion it may be in fair condition and booked at about $900

I forgot to list it, but yes it does say Model B on the left side.

I traded a used Chinese AK47 with drum and 100.00 for it so I guess I did ok? Either way I have it now and Im happy. Just want to start finding the parts to make this thing like new again. Thank you for the help.

You should try CDNN for the parts you listed in bad shape. they have the cheapest unbeatable price anywhere.

Make new again??? If you want it to look new send it to Vector (http://www.vectorarms.com/indexframe.html) For a complete refinish... They can repark it and make it look like brand new... They can also take care of the stock and top cover problems.

You did GREAT on the deal. IMI makes a great weapon, and it'll go up in value. THe chinese drum, if it's 100rd, goes for about $155. The AK, 500 to 700 if used or worse, depending on condition, pre/post ban, etc.

I agree with above poster. Send it to Vector for R&R. They'll make it RIGHT for you. Good people.
Enjoy.

Thanks for the words of advice guys. It was a 100 round drum, brand new. The AK was preban, original bluing. I guess maybe 600 to 800 rounds fired from it. It was in good shape I just couldnt get used to it being Chinese. I really wanted some kind of Euro preban.

I havent done gun work per say, but I do have access to the tools and stuff at work to do most of it I think. We do black oxide, phosphate coating, galvanizing, powder coating at work. I think we still hire out for anodizing also.

Years ago when I did have gun work done I was never satisfied with the results. And for what machining was done it was priced way out of line. I felt taken advantage of. What am I saying, I was taken advantage of! Plus its one thing if I cheat when working on my own things, but its not expectable if I pay someone else to do the work for me. It should be perfect no exceptions. I'm very particular I guess.
