Hi, I'm new to this forum and had an important question. A friend of mine has a very high end machine shop and can manufacture nearly anything such as car parts, tools, and certainly gun parts if he chose. If he went through the proper paperwork to be submitted to the ATF to make a semi auto UZI carbine receiver, would he be violating a patent on the receiver design. This machine shop has the ability to replicate the receiver, but I wasn't sure if a company like Vector Arms, IMI, or Action Arms had a design patent on the weapon that prevented others from making their own copies. Any reply would be appreciated, thanks.

D&D / Century is in the process of making UZI recievers . pending approval
They have ended up in Red Tape with the BATF.
and may take it to the top.

I don't imagine that there are any patents that remain in force on any part of an UZI, since the original design was arrived at in the 1950s.

You can check the U.S. patent database (from 1976 to the present) at www.uspto.gov

No problem with making your own reciever... But you may be better off buying an 80% finished one... They start off about $20...

We are discussing one on this link at the moment.... Some good info about builds too...

For personal use it is ok to make one.
D&D is on a commercial scale and the MG issue is getting blocked by BATF.
