Hi all,
I am new to this forum and wanted to say hello and some questions. I live in Arizona and collect military style weapons, etc. I am thinking about getting an UZI. Should I save my money and buy an original IMI one or one from Vector Arms?
Thank you,
Kevin

Somebody just posted the same question yesterday... You can see it here. (http://www.uzitalk.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=11861)

Welcome to the group Kevin. If I wanted an UZI for a collection, I'd buy an original IMI. If I wanted a shooter, I'd buy a Vector.

Thanks for your input guys. I want it as a shooter and a collection. Maybe I will have to eventually get both. What would be a reasonable price on an original IMI?
Thanks,
Kevin

900-1.2k for an original SA I'd say.
Paid a little over 1000 for mine about a year ago.
Model B IMI.
It's in very good condition.

Are you looking for a semi-auto or a full auto?
If you're looking for a semi, since you're in Arizona, which is a pretty good state for firearm owners, I'd recommend going the SBR route too. That would give the gun a much more authentic appearance.

I'm paying just shy of $1300.00 for my original IMI, which is on the high side for sure. The dealer is tossing in ammo and accessories, plus this gun is NIB. I could have gone the Vector route, saved some dough and had a quality shooter, but for me personally, there's nothing like an original from IMI. I could have paid off and been blasting away with the Vector, but some things are worth the wait. Plus, there's no guesswork. As great as Vector is, I know this IMI will go bang-bang-bang-bang...That makes me happy and helps me sleep at night... :)
Was dropping off my next-to-the-last payment on Saturday, (HOORAY!) and popped off the cover - no signs of wear and tear at all. I'd be suprised if this thing had been fired - it's like walking back in time.
I plan on shooting this gun until I'm dizzy on gunpowder, so even if you do buy an IMI, don't make it a "safe-queen"... Shoot the bejeebus out of it... Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the board Kevin. Maybe we can hold a small UZItalk Arizona shoot one day, there are enough of us in AZ with UZI's to do so. AZATTY and I have gotten together a couple times and burned up some ammo with ours for sure. It would be nice to get a few more UZI's at the range together.

An Arizona UZI shoot would be a great idea. There's a lot of Uzitalk members from Arizona. It would be a lot of fun.
Thanks for the suggestion az_gun_nut!

I don't have an UZI yet but will order a semi today. It will be the Vector Arms with the IMI receiver. Hopefully it will be a good gun. I can bring my other guns though.

How about in Bisbee......downrange will be facing south.

Or we could have a shoot and defend our borders from Illegal at the same time:D
I think since we cover all corner's of AZ. We might meet in the middle. That would be a 3 hour drive for me.

We can do this. Let's see how many we really have interested. I have a nice spot in the desert that's easily acessable by car that is pretty central for everyone. West side of Phoenix over in Buckeye.

Isn't Bisbee a little on the liberal (hippy) side?

Haven't been there myself, but from what I understand it's full of liberal hippy artsy fartsy types.

Sounds like the right place then. Make it during the summer and maybe I can come.

Sounds good... except for the part about being in the summer in the Valley. Drive up the mountain a bit closer to Flagstaff and it will be cooler. It snowed here yesterday.

I'm in for this!
and only somebody from the cool east coast would suggest a Summer shoot:D
Hey Cookie
When's the last time that you shot in 115-120 degree weather ?
az_gun_nut

Well we could always send to Cookie to a spot in the desert while the rest of us head north to the mountains and cooler temps. ;)

I was out there (southern AZ) last August. That hot sun is nothing compared to the 90%+ humidity I'm accustomed to.

ok, when are we shooting? I want to blast away on full auto. I hope someone will let me use theirs. I will supply the ammo.
I will also bring my Benelli M1, Colt M4, and Sig handguns.

I agree with Morgan. We should do it closer to Flagstaff if it's going to be in the summer.
