Re-hashing up an old subject. Heard that the Coastal Suppressor is great value and that the Gemtech Mossad is the best. Where in value do these new suppressors like the one in the for-sale area at $375 stand; comparing price for value. Mossad is a little to pricey for me at the moment. I plan on getting a thread adapters to enable it to be used on other handguns in the future. Would appreciate some "expert opinions on the subject. Also I got the prices on some adapters to allow the coastal unit to tread to other barrels , but they were $60 and up. Aren't the just machined nuts with threads on inside and outside? If so $60 seems a little steep. I know this is an expensive hobby, but every bucks saved and more money for ammo. Thx

I really don't know how the suppressors compare to the one for sale for $375.00. If you try to place an Uzi suppressor on a semi auto pistol, chances are it will not cycle reliably. Uzi adapters are not cheap because they have to be precisely made. If they're not made to exact specifications, you could end up with baffle strikes. Before you buy, make sure the adapter has the long protrusion (simulating the Uzi barrel) so as to ensure proper alignment.

where can you buy such a barrel and how much did/does it cost? What make/model Mac Can and prices? I can buy a coastal for 120 so I'm leaning that direction.

I bought my MAC threaded 3/4 X 10 barrel from RPB a couple of years ago. Not sure if they still stock them or not. Cost was $85.00 so it made perfect sense to invest a little money in a drop in barrel that allowed me to use one can on 2 different subguns. I've found that if I wrap the coarse threads with a heavy dose of Teflon tape and tighten with a strap wrench it REALLY stays put.

I had my .22 barrel threaded 1/2 X 28 and bought a $20.00 adapter, (also from RPB), and use the same CAC9 can with the .22 conversation. It's very quiet with subsonic Winchester Dyna Point ammo from Kmart. Just for the record, I have no interest in RPB. I just got to know them and their products from all the M11 parts I bought. HTH

JDmontana, I would get a suppressor that mounts in place of the barrel nut. The Uzi is perfect for a suppressor because the ratchet mechanism will not allow the suppressor to loosen. I would (and did) take full advantage of this feature. Mac threads are course and you have to keep an eye on the Mac threaded suppressor to ensure it is kept tight. The Mossad (for example), with a proper working ratchet mechanism, will never loosen. Of course, everything involves a certain amount of trade off. You have to weigh the pros and cons for yourself.

Lots of options and info. thx One more question. with the coastal suppressor attached (seems to be the longest pictured) what is the overall length of a full size uzi? I'm ordering a aluminum gun case to protect uzi in transport and want to make sure case is big enough. P.S. Got cabin/uzi fever, does it show?

Just in case you didn't already see this, click on the link to see a previous discussion about a gun case for the Uzi. http://www.uzitalk.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=726&highlight=gun+case
The one in the pic can be bought at Lowe's for around $20.00 (without the perforated foam insert). This may give you some ideas.

This is the first I've heard of the 8.2" bbl. Please tell me details & $$. Does it work with a can as well as the stock 10.2"? TIA -Z06:uzi

Has anyone ever seen a compensated bbl. (like the mini SMG bbl.) made for the full size? Would a comp. bbl. work with a suppressor? TIA -Z06:uzi

..... this happens: "Adding that one extra part to the equation increases the risk of baffle/end cap strikes"....

That sounds like it could be fatal! possibly!!!

The AWC MK-9 sounds quieter to *my* ear & produces more of a whooooosh than a pop. Db drops are dramatic. The Mossad, although a truly superb suppressor is ALL aluminum in construction. AWC relies on an 18-SS baffle-core, 4140 steel & just a touch of 6061 T-6. The MK-9 runs cooler, especially with the co-axial baffle stack & the likelyhood of warpage is significantly reduced.

However, Doc Dater's customer service puts Lynn McWilliams' to shame!

A buddy of mine was shooting a SIONICS MAW-A1 .223 can on his M16 A1 carbine & experienced a baffle strike between the perforated adaptor at the rear expansion chamber & the double/reverse spirals. Things happen pretty quickly at 14rps. Apparently, vibration from f/a fire had loosened the two conical, bushing shims on the 1st point of the two point mounting system. The resultant rupture sent shrapnel flying everywhere, destroying the suppressor. Fortunately, no one was injured... but it could have been quite lethal.
