I assumed that the MK 760 was a cheap copy of the SW 76. Now that I have seen both, I am pretty sure that the 760 is an exact copy of the 76. I bet the parts are interchangable. I am real happy with the 760 so far. I have not fired it yet but the fit and finish is quality.

I have a SW76, but don't have an MK760, so I'm not absolutely sure about this.....
I don't think parts are 100% interchangable, because there are at least two variations of MK760 bolts. They differ at the boltface. The extractors are different also, according to which boltface it is.
Now, one of the MK760 bolts may be the same as the SW76, I don't know.
Both may work in the SW76- don't know.
I also don't know if the two bolts are interchangable in the 760, but I think they are.
I think some, or all, of the MK760s have a seperate, replaceable firing pin. The SW76's pin is part of the bolt.
I have owned an MK760 since 1990. Shot with and compared to several SW76's. All parts will interchange that I know of (including the rounded style bolt). Didn't have the trunicated bolt to try. Mine will run all day, but needs the feed ramp swabbed and cleaned of carbon residue about every 800 rounds or so. Have also developed a cast load with RCBS 124 grain trunicated bullet for cheap blasting that will feed well. Run my normal MP-5 125 FMJ load for using with suppressor. Buy yourself several Soumi mags and find a Swed K loader and LOTS of stripper clips. DO NOT pull rearward on mags while firing (if they have any forward/rearward play. This can decrease the feed angle out of mag and lead to jams from failure to feed. DO NOT use reloads with commercial 9mm brass which has been reloaded several times. When the brass has become stretched and thin it can head separate and promptly blow the lip off your bolt and you will be immediately shut down until you either fix or purchase another bolt. The case headspaces on the case mouth so about the rear 1/3 of the case is outside the chamber when the bolt strikes the primer. All sw76/mk760 have the pin as a welded dimple on the bolt face. The only one that might not, is the semi versions which are classified as semi pistols. A Houge grip-all type slip on grip also works well as it has finger grooves. Make sure the ejector (inside the tube) is nice and square. Polish bolt, feed ramp and chamber to eliminate as much friction as possible during feeding and extracting. Make sure all mag feed lips are rounded and smooth and clear bolt correctly. My mags fit all the way up to bottom of ejector . There are drums and beta available also.

There is absolutly nothing even close to interchangeable between a K and a 76/760. Except maybe for the mag. We're talking apples and oranges here.

I bought one in 1991 for $500 NIB, and I had nothing but problems with it. I sent it back two times to LaFrance Specialties. The first 25 rounds made the lip on the bolt crack. So the bolt was rewelded and refinished.
It cracked again...So I sent the gun back and they said the trunion is off a little. I also sent 3 mags to be fitted to the gun.
So they fixed the bolt and trunion. I get it back with three mags modded to the gun and what happens? The gun jams like crazy. It wouldnt shoot more than 5 rounds in a burst and semi jammed too. I tried Winchester, Federal, UMC, Fiocchi you name it. It was just a POS.
This time the extractor breaks, so I sent them just the bolt and not the gun. They sent it back and it still jammed after that. I spent sooooo much money on mags, repairs and parts, it more than doubled my initial investment. I sold it for $700 in 1995, I will get an S&W 76 if I were to get this type of gun again. I bet there are many of these guns that work great, but mine was absolute junk. I heard that the Fruithurst made MK760s were the ones to get. Mine looked great but was only good as a display gun and not a shooter. A Chauchat French machinegun probably would have done better at the range than my MK760 did.
I am not here to bash, but that was quite upsetting for me to get a class 3 that no matter how much money I threw at it, it would not work. LaFrance was supposedly the experts on this gun and picked up the gauntlet when MK Arms went out of business. But after seeing what they sent back to me after hundreds upon hundreds of dollars was tossed thier way, I will never deal with them again. Hopefully they are out of business too. MK Arms probably shelled mine out the last day before the machinegun ban came into effect.

The K is the one to get... But the price is considerably more then the 760... Like Jimmy said... The only thing interchangeable between them is the mags... But original K mags are going for close to $30 or $50 and up.... But Soumi stick mags will work in both... And they are cheap...Nice if you get a Swedish K with a removable mag well, you can shoot the 50 round coffin mags and the 71 round drums... The K runs forever. I have never had a jam yet... At least that wasn't ammo related... The K has better sights and looks better!!!!:D

I agree, it is a better gun, the Swedish K is a fool proof gun. It is funny how the MK760 "looked" like it was all about the quality, but I got way better results and 100% reliability from my cheap stamped receiver weapons like the MAC-10, M-11/9 and UZI.
I probably got the only p.o.s. MK-760 made, but I doubt it. I hope yours wasnt made on a bad day.

I do appreciate that, as I originally got the MK Arms MK-760 because I seen a couple people with SW-76 smgs. I was intrigued and asked the owners how they liked their 76s, and they told me that they are their favorite smg in their collection.
So, I had to have one. You can imagine how frustrating it is to get a class 3 that doesnt work right. Doing the form 5 two times was horrible, it took so long. I almost forgot I had an MK-760 in all the wait. I should have got the Fruithurst MK-760 or the S&W gun. The S&W was only $250 more, but back then it was a big difference, I guess.
Anyways, I respect the S&W model 76 smg, I never seen one pull what my clone 76 did. I think the Gustaf is one of those no frills smgs.
The SW76 has such a thick receiver on it, but the bolt lip is my focus for worry. Mine broke twice, but it doesnt mean that everyone else will have the same problem. I am just amazed how LaFrance could flub the bolt 3xs.
Trying the real deal out might sway me to getting one. Do you ever come out to the Mesa area to shoot? I always pass through Kingman on my way to Las Vegas. Let me know if you are in the vicinity and I can bring some class 3s too.
Thanks again...

SO WHAT YOU GUYS ARE TRYING TO SAY IS IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM PARTS ARE FEW AND FAR BETWEEN. I SHOULD EXPECT TO HAVE TO SPEND SOME MONEY TO HAVE SOMEONE FABRICATE PARTS IF I NEED THEM

No, many of them were p.o.s. guns. That's why LaFrance got the deal to do all the warranty work on them. Mine was also "NIB" but would not run. And I also had to send it to LaFrance TWICE before he got it working right--and I had to pay shipping both times both ways even though the only reason it went back a second time was because he did not do it right the first time.
I may be wrong but I got the impression that LaFrance doesn't really care about fixing these and it's not high on his list of priorities.

What really is horrible, is that when I finally got my MK-760, I sent in the warranty card to MK Arms.
I didnt know they were out of business.
So, LaFrance never covered it under warranty. I paid probably $5-600 to get it to ultra-jam status.
LaFrance stinks in my honest accessment. Why? Because now I know I am not the only one where he made people keep sending guns he didn't fix guns right back to the customer. How absolutely, positively un-professional of him to do that to me and you, and who knows who else.
What is sad is that I had to pay for the supposed repairs, and shipping every which way. I will never buy an MK Arms gun, nor ever buy a LaFrance worked on gun ever.
