As an American it's my natural instinct to reject and deride all things European ... but I gotta say, it looks pretty nice.

You have to love any country where assault rifles are allowed to run free and play in their natural habitat, instead of being locked away somewhere.

Don't be fooled by what you see ;)
Just a handful semiauto "assult rifles" are allowed and I cannot own more than 2-3. And we can only have a small amount of handguns (5-8 maybe)

No full auto :( No .50bmg :( No Ak47 :( But I should not complain ;)

That Galil looks to be select fire. You can see the middle (full-auto) selector indent on the receiver.

How do they restrict it to semi-auto only in your country?

BTW, those are incredible pictures. One of the world's most beautiful guns in such spectacular country. Wow!

It is a selective fire, military model converted to semiauto by IMI at the factory. The Rifle is 100% israeli made ;)
(is should take no more than 10minutes to make it full auto again, but it's illegal so i don't go there...)

If you look closely you can see that the full auto setting is blocked by a pin. I also (think) i'm missing somekind of full auto sear inside. (Out of curiosity I'm looking for schematic or pictures of the the triggerparts on a full auto version)

Today this model is not allowed anymore, but I was lucky and got one that was imported before that law got effective ;)

It's a beautiful rifle and it shoots really well, even with the iron sights. On this trip we shoot at ranges up to about 700 meters and the galil was working perfectly.
Of all my rifles I love my Galil the most..

Next thing I will get for it is a original imi scope and mount (Can anyone recommend a good dealer?) and a suppressor so I don't upset the neighbours so much ;)

The pin does not block the full auto position since the full auto position with an AK is the middle indent.

All you would probably have to do would be to switch some of the internals to get to the original IMI configuration as produced for the military.

I wouldn't 'go there' either. You have it so good already.

Beautiful gun. Beautiful country. :D

I recently read a post here from a guy in Finland (??) who had a Lyttleton Uzi and I think all he had to do was put in a weld to block the selector from going all the way forward; presumably it was still open bolt. It seems the standards for "readily convertible" are much lower in some other countries than in the US.

Those pics would look a hellava lot nicer if you added a few scantily clothed babes to them. :cool

Nice looking rifles and nice locale.

WOW Israel is in Europe
I dont' consider Israel to be part of Europe. And yes, I was referring to the location not the Galil. Galil_Sar was the one who said he was from Europe (although it appears that he has now retracted that statement).

Sorry about that missunderstanding ;) You are correct..
Local police are cracy, they want so bad to ban theese weapons. Therefore I try not to say to much about anything on the web :(

If I post a picture of a legal AR15 with a legal laser, supressor, flashlight or any other "cool" accessories. You can almost bet some stupid goverment agency will contact you regarding your "assult rifle" :argue

Very nice pictures. And do not let the anti-gunners or police pass any new gun laws - or someday you won't have anything left. Rock on with those cool guns! Mike in Idaho
