Just got my FNC and quickly ran out of brass ammo. Is there any down side to using dirt cheap ammo like Wolf? Let me know if you have used the stuff. Thanks.

Here's my new toy.

I don't have an FNC yet, but I use Wolf a lot in my M96. The only problems I've seen with Wolf in a piston-driven gas system is finding bits of the bullet sealant in the gas system. I think the newer polymer coated stuff doesn't have the sealant, or it has a better sealant, so I wouldn't see a problem with it.

Nice FNC, Glock17_shooter!

Welcome to the 4-position selector FNC club.

I've shot at least 2,000 rounds of Wolf and the S&B steel case through mine. With the Wolf you just have to clean inside the receiver and gas system more...

Thanks guys. I will order a couple thousand of Wolf.

Does anyone know if there are resources here on how to field strip the FNC? I do not want to mess up anything

1. Remove mag.
2. Clear.
3. Push out rear lower receiver pin and break open like a shotgun.
4. Pull back on backplate/recoil spring until charging handle is able to be removed via the notch at the rear of the slot under the spring loaded dust cover.
5. Pull bolt carrier/bolt/gas piston out of the receiver.
6. Remove bolt from bolt carrier. (don't lose the firing pin spring)

At this point you can separate the receivers if you want to by pushing out the front receiver pin.

7. Raise the grenade launching sight and push forward on the clip holding the front of the handguards and remove left and right handguards.
8. Rotate the gas regulator lever all the way to the left (counter-clockwise) and pull back on gas cylinder to remove.

That's pretty much it. Reassemble in reverse.

One other thing that I noted is this, there was a couple of times that the ammo did not feed properly. I think I was in 3-round burst when it happened.

The tip of the bullet did not quite make it to the chamber and the bolt ended up in the middle of the case.

I probably shot no more than 200 rounds and had these 2 events of misfeed.

I'm not sure what caused your failure to feeds.

It could be that the particular magazine has a weak spring. The 3 round burst has an extremely fast rate of fire and I've had a couple of old mags that couldn't keep up...

No problems here. Use wolf alot.
Seems to be a little under powered, shutting the gas port seems to help.

How do you shut the gas port?

when closeing be careful ,the first time I used a tooth pick ,a post here pointed out that by opening the bolt a little it will lower your sear.If its the first time ,just dont slam shut like a shotgun.enjoy your new gun fnc is one of my favorites.I use wolf as its cheap never any problems, fnc seems to like every thing.

the gas shut off is done be lifting grenade site ,makes it single shot, turn your gas adjustment to left for dirty gun or weak ammo ,should work fine on right side.clean gun ,dont forget piston.

My FNC with Cmag doesnt run good with wolf.

Oh

And to the post above, I was refering to the gas adjustment to make wolf run better.

I have never shot it with the grenade gas shot off closed.
Isnt that only for using blanks to propell grenades.
I didn't think you were sopposed to put a live round through it with that shut off. are you?

I tried it once, just because I was bored.

Don't do it.

It wasn't anything bad, really...

the bolt wouldn't retract because it was gripping the case which was stuck in the chamber. I pretty much had to kick it open. All the while hoping I didn't break anything.

Didn't break anything did it?

FNC is a fuckin cool rifle.

I shot my FNC again and this time I was able to dump 30-round mags no problem. I was using Wolf and some brass ammo.

The feeding problem was in fact due to a mag with weak spring.

I tried the c-mag but it did not work well. I only did it once though and I will sure try again to make that work.
