Talked to Debbie at Vector today, she said Mike would be getting the .22 kit to run in my gun. I guess that would be Mad Mike??? Packed it up and sent it UPS, oh the pain, I miss her already.
Going to get the semi feed ramp installed too. Can't wait to finally get to enjoy the .22 kit.
Debbie also said not to buy additional insurance, just send it UPS Ground and Vector will cover it both ways, you guys are great to deal with!

Salvo, I'm with you man. I sent Mike my Mini today for a feed ramp upgrade. Rex told me the same thing about insurance. Vector is absolutely a grade A company. I hated to hand the box over at the UPS counter. I miss the little guy already too.

Salvo, based on my one experience shipping a sick gun back for repairs, you'll have it back in time for next weekend's shoot. I've been very happy with the prompt shipping on all the accessories and goodies I've ordered from them.

Mad Mike called me today, package arrived and he will start work on it in the morning.

You'll have it back in time. If not, you can play with mine. Hopefully I'll have the .22 conversation kit for the M16 I just made a deal on today. I'm still kicking myself for trading the one I had a couple of years back. The kit was reasonable, the 30 round mags were spendy.

Mike called me today as well to tell me my gun had arrived. I feel much better knowing it's safely in his hands. Those guys are great.

Thats great RoverDave, not sure how often they do the semi feedramp conv, but at least they can do two at the same time!
VegasSMG, what you do hit the MegaBucks or what? How did you find a kit so fast, it was just Saturday you where thinking about one.
.22 is just to much fun, if it wasnt for your great running Vector kit I would have gave up and sent mine back for good. Sure hope Mad Mike can get it to purr.

Mad Mike called today, my Uzi is on it's way back! Ramp installed and he replaced the .22 barrel, recoil spring/guide and two of the magazines and he said it's running fine. THANKS MIKE!
RoverDave did you get a call too?

No salvo, I haven't heard from Mike yet. My mini has a painted finish over the parkerizing so I'm guessing it will take them a little longer to fix up the finish after welding the new feed ramp. Plus I'm swapping a barrel and they might not have the new one ready yet. Soon I hope.

I got my Uzi back yesterday, man one week is all it took and it came back looking brand spankin new! I'll be getting it to look used again this Saturday and will report back.
I have to say if any one is thinking about the semi feed ramp instal, you should do it, the workmanship and refinish is a deal at $50.00, jeez the first rate service is worth more than that in my book!

I knew you'd have it back in time for our Memorial Day shoot! People can bad mouth Vector all they want, but their customer service is 1st rate. If it runs as good as mine, you'll be a very happy camper. I cleaned and loaded my .22 mags tonight so I'm ready for the weekend.

I ended up buying a conversion kit from another guy from a different board and he said it runs well. The Ceiner kits can be iffy but the seller was dumping his entire M16 package to raise money for a H&K sear and the buyer didn't want the kit. Better price although still very expensive but if it runs as well as he said, i'll be pleased. I guess we'll both find out Saturday.

I talked to Mad Mike today about mine. It didn't take him long to get the feed ramp converted and everything in working order but the black finish on my gun is giving him some trouble. That's what I expected. I don't mind though. I'm partial to a black finish over the grey parkerized finish.

What type of black finish will be used?

salvo...

If RoverDave's gun was finished like mine... it's a semi-gloss, satin black powder coat over park. It looks great with the contrasting park'd bolt & sights; they even finish the bbl nut & entire bbl in this black finish.

It's easier to have the semi feed ramp installed before the gun has the additional coatings applied... just a thought, as the coating has to be entirely stripped from the receiver.

O/T.... but, guess what Rex told me today?
ok... give up?
There gonna build an RPD semi, beltfed project next.

Shhhhhh! ...it's a secret ...lol

Hmmmm! ...I'm also getting the urge for an H-K clone & registered sear too! ..oh, well, it's only $$$$$

Ya, I'd love to get a H&K sear for my 91, and every thing else that would follow;)
That black finish sounds like it looks great.

Just got back from our monthly shoot and my .22 kit ran perfect with CCI mini mag ammo. Remington bulk pack would jamb once or twice a mag. I picked up some Winchester bulk pack at Wally world, Mad Mike said he tested it with Winchester in the silver box, this box was silver with like a red bulls eye on it, did not shoot good at all. What exact ammo did you use Mike?
Shot 200 rds of the CCI without one jamb, I'm so happy that it runs on somthing! I cant thank Mike and Vector enough.
But I did have a problem:( after I ran out of the CCI, I shot some more of the Remington and the extractor broke in half, will have to call Vector on Tuesday and get a couple of them for the range box.
I even got to test the semi feed ramp out with a friends .45 kit, what a hoot, talk about a full sized Uzi coming to life in your hands. I know what is next on my list for the Uzi. I installed the kit with my buffer system after the first mag and that sucker ripped. 16 rds. is not enough for sure. I was using that aluminum case CCI ammo. The owner of the kit loaded a mag with S&B and it jambed all the time, whats up with that?
Anybody ever use steel case Wolf .45? how did it work out?

Glad to see you enjoying the .22 conversion kit at last. Here's another example of Vector's excellent service. I saw Salvo's gun with the newly installed feed ramp and it looks like new. Good time today, thanks for being so kind to my guest.

And yea, the .45acp makes the gun a completely different beast!

Your welcome, your daughters boyfriend seems like a nice young man (boy that makes me sound like an old fart) I think you spoiled him though, first time ever shooting and he got to play with all the toys! One more pro gunner to join the ranks.

This deserves a story:

A guy I shoot skeet with has twin daughters - blond, beautiful and apples of his eye. When they started dating, he was a mess. Then he had a helluva idea. Took a nice chrome SxS out of the safe, pulled out the firing pins to be safe, and leaned that bad boy against the door frame in the entryway.

Girls hated it and it took a bit of explaining to get the missus to go along. But the guys were required to come in to pick up their dates so no way they wouldn't see it on the way out. Kinda put a bit of religion in the recesses of the boy's minds if they had any dishonorable intentions vis-a-vis his princesses.:paranoid Bottom line, he ended up with some really decent sons-in-law. One's a sheriff's deputy who's in the reserves in Afganistan. The other is also a skeet buddy and a first rate person. Guess what? They're both gun nuts. One even asked him if the monte carlo stock was rosewood or red maple when he brought precious home one evening. Instant male bonding. Gotta love it! :D

Got my mini back from Vector today and it looks great. Mine took longer because of the painted finish over the parkerizing. Mike got the real work done quickly but had to spend some extra time trying to get a finish that looked good. I haven't shot it yet but all the work looks to be top notch. I asked him to look at the alignment of the pistol grip since it was excessively hard to get the pin in. He took care of that and it's now smooth as can be. He also adjusted the barrel alighment and put in a slightly shorter recoil spring because the originhal was a little long and was binding. It looks like a brand new gun now! I can't wait to get to the range.

Thanks Mike!!

My favorite movie line:

"I've got a .45 and a shovel, I doubt anyone would miss you." :D
