Sure I like AR's, FAL's, Uzi's, etc but sometimes you have to celebrate diversity & love a communist too. :D

Top is a Bulgarian SLR-95 converted from T-Hole configuration w/US parts. Bottom is a Romanian SAR-1 w/US parts. Both have Ironwood stock sets on them.

...& I do too!

jt325i...

BTW... if you get the "Sundance" channel... there's a documentary on him & his inventions... later, tonight! :)

I've enjoyed shooting my Hungarian AMD-65, Russian SVD Dragunov (7,62x54Rmm) w/ PSO-1, IPN-58-2 & IPN-51-2 NVDs, Chinese, Shansi Arsenal .45acp Broomhandle w/ QD stock-holster & Hungarian AKM folder. They all take a lickin'... & keep on tickin'!

...crude, rude & got attitude!

Nice weapons!!!!!!

Nice pix. I too, enjoy a nice collection of Eastern Bloc rifles and pistols. Good, reliable, fun guns, and for the most part, reasonably priced.

Just finished cleaning and lubing up a Norinco Tokarev pistol in 7.62x25, for use as a car gun. Next project will be re-doing a Russian Makarov pistol in .380. Will be adding some safety features, changing the sights and grips. Have never completely stripped down a pistol before, so this should be very interesting. I have learned to laugh at myself, so that should help.

A couple more... top, Yugo 59/66 SKS, bottom 1953 Hungarian Mosin-Nagant M44. (I have two of those actually) Put rubber pads on those to save my shoulder. lol

jt325i...More nice pics. Regarding the Mosin Nagant and your shoulder..."Brother, I feel your pain." The black pad looks like it's a good fit. What brand is it?

I get a big charge out of buying the $50 guns, cleaning 'em up good and bringing 'em back to life.

By Kommie guns do you mean the Kali approved M1A or Mini-14 ranch?

It's a small size Pachmayr slip-on pad. They had them in brown too I think but black looked the best to me. You can pull it right off so no harm done to the rifle. Makes a big difference after blasting away a few rounds of 7.62x54R. That metal plate was killer. :D I guess when you had on a bulky uniform in freezing weather you didn't think much about the recoil.

Hey JT -- Did you convert that SLR-95 yourself? I bought one at a gunshow a couple of years ago that looks exactly like yours with the walnut furniture and the compensator.

Frankly, I like the SAR-1 I have better. Its lighter and has a scope mount that I have a Kobra red dot scope attached to. If you don't have one of these for your SAR-1, get one. They are really fun and very reasonably priced (around $120).

One of these days, I need to fix the trigger slap on the thing.

I did the SLR-95 myself. Sounds like you have an SLR-93 if you have wood but same routine. It wasn't that hard. I like the SAR. I used a Kobra once...... I think I'm spoiled by my AR though. I like my Aimpoint ML2 a lot better. I prefer iron sights on the AK. A new trigger will take care of the slap in the SAR. I recommend the RSA. If you don't want an adjustable trigger then consider the FSE.

Little over 1500 rnds and never missed a beat! beat the hell out of a Blackjack green buffer though. I think the new black one will hold up better.

Yea ...great rifles!

JT -- nope it's a SLR-95. Says so right on the side of it. The furniture is stamped made in USA. Someone converted it from butthole to normal stock at some point in its life.

The Kobra is not as nice of a sight as an Aimpoint, but its also not nearly as expensive and it comes on and off without losing zero. Its a nice accessory for an AK (frankly, I'd feel a little silly mounting a $300 scope on a $300 rifle).

I have a EOTech mounted on an FAL that is much nicer than the Kobra (and an Aimpoint IMHO), but that's a bit nicer rifle than a SAR-1.

Sorry, I thought you meant it was still in the thumbhole configuration. If it is in pistol grip forum, somebody definitely replaced the stock set. All the SLR-95's had black polymer stock sets when they came in. The SLR-93's were wood. Much better with the pistol grip though. :) I was able to shoot better with iron sights on my AK than the Kobra. I have an FAL (DSA SA-58) but haven't put optics on it yet. I was thinking about a Trijicon ACOG but they are pretty expensive. The Elcan looks nice too but is pretty bulky. (About the size of a coke can)

Dan, those looks great! I miss my underfolder. I had a Chinese Norinco 84S-1 in 5.56 but sold it due to availability of 5.56 mags. (They are $20-$25 each!) Decided to just standardize on 7.62 AK's. If I had known better (the Norinco was my first AK), I would have picked up a model 56 in 7.62 & still own it. Here was mine:

jt325i, nice AK. Did the flash hider come with your underfolder, or was it added later? It appears to be an RPK-type flash hider?

Here are my two Bulgarian AK's
http://mediaservice.photoisland.com/auction/Jul/20037234581618662157540.jpg
The top one is a Gordon Tech SLR -100H and the bottom one is a SA93 with K-Var furniture, since the picture was taken I installed one of the Ace FAL grips on the SA93 I realy like that grip.

Those Ironwood stocks look great, probably should have converted the SA93 with those instead of the K-Var black plastic ones, oh well black is good.

Every time I go shooting one of these commie rifles make the pick out of the safe and a bunch of other rifles sit there year after year waiting for a turn, ya just cant beat a good AK for fun.

Dan, the flash hider came with it. I think Norinco put it on as a US market appeal thing since the .223 AK's were all destined for here. It does resemble an RPK flash hider.

Cerberus36, I hope I am wrong: do you have a couple of Valmets/Sakos in that line up? I mean if I am correct it means you are refererring Finland as a commie country?

Cerberus36
11-21-2004, 05:45 PM
you'll notice two valmets and 3 galils....and no way am I implying the finns or Isreali's are commies....but the stated firearms are the cousins of soviet pedigree's:D

4 of them are converted auto's..I was too young in 1979 by 6 yrs to own full auto's they banned them in 79, so after that date shops were bringing in full auto's and making them semi only..but now those are banned too..the full auto's and converted autos are grandfathered at least..fucking gun laws

the ex full's are the Type 56, AMD-65, Galil SAR and the yugo M72B1 RPK..all the others are semi made civvie models

My Commie Collection is currently at four

1.SAR1
2.Norinco 84s I traded this AK for my third AK
3.Bulgarian SLR-100H I got from trading above gun
4.Polytech Legends Underfolder
5.SAR2 I have a US made AK74 brake on it

My only problem is that its being almost two years since I got another AK.:D

Two AK`s I really want to get are the Polytech with an underfolding spike bayonet, and some form of RPK.
