View Full Version : Problems with Vector foregrip
I tinkered and tinkered and could not get it on right. The screw nearest the trigger just won't catch the other side of the handle. Screws go through the receiver fine. Screws catch fine when I try them with the unit not on the gun. Its not a bad screw as I rotated them around and had the same problem in the same place. The screws used in the original grip didn't work either (original grip goes on and off fine)
I got 2 out of 3 on OK -- the third not well -- and took it to the range. The problem screw fell out (I found it). When I got home, I gave up and put the original grip back on.
Got any ideas? I like the thing, but I don't want to use it if it doesn't solidly attach.

Mine din't line up very well out of the box. I found that I had to sort of bend the stock into place. It seemed to be a bit warped. Once I got it secured it stayed on fine. I'd rather have one of amphibian's rail setups if he gets them off the ground. I'd like the idea of an easily removable forgrip with a smaller footprint. If it won't install I'd send it back to Vector.

It is completely hidden from view. It fits very well now and I've had no problems since. If you want, I can take a picture and post it.
Muzzleflash -- sure, some more detail would be much appreciated. I liked it when it was on as it doesn't heat up like the standard hand guard.

Anyone try the GG&G UFR? I'm one of their dealers and would be happy to do a group purchase if they are any good. They attach to the bayo lug, not sure how secure they are.

pmf...
The 3rd screw, near the trigger guard, is in a portion of the grip panel subject to the most flex. Assemble your forward grip w/o installing on the smg. Use a caliper to check for parallel continuity. Look to see if any excess molding material is just forward of the screw hole. If there is... it's likely that the flex encountered in attempting to pull the panels together while on the smg are allowing the the alignment to change... changing the axis of the screw travel. Since your original front panels go on w/o a problem... you can rule out the receiver as the culprit.
As MuzzleFlash stated... you could chalk the inner edges of the panels to see where they are making contact with the receiver. Areas that do transmit chalk to the receiver will indicate contact surfaces.
I'm guessing that as you approach the trigger guard... you are experiencing NO contact & material must be uniformly removed to alleviate the flex induced misalignment... of the *female* :) bushings.
If it appears that there is significant warpage... send it back for a replacement.

Here it is fitted on the receiver. Once the lower is attached, all trim work is hidden.

From the FWIW department:
A friend claims to have it on good authority that the IMI forends are gone and the ones being sold now are made on contract from Vector. Perhaps Mad Mike can enlighten us as to the veracity of this rumor.
