View Full Version : Possible Rare Import Uzi Question

A friend of mine has for sale a semi-auto Uzi imported by Interarms that might be a rare configuration. He said it has a zippered case for magazines and tools, and the original cardboard box. The thing that might make this rare is that gun has a camo finish on it. I haven't seen it yet but he says that it is a factory finish. I was wondering if this is possible. Did Interarms ever sale camo finished Uzi's? If so does anyone know how many?
Any possible information would be appreicated.

david_455, welcome to UZI Talk. I'm glad you joined us.
I assume you mean Action Arms (the primary importer of IMI UZI's in the US) rather than Interarms. I'm not aware of Action Arms making a camo UZI available on an regular basis. It's possible that a few were done for some special purpose but you'd have to have good evidence that it was originally done by IMI for it to be of any collector value. Since you said it came in a cardboard box, it's most likely a model A. It should be stamped model A on the left side of the receiver under the rear sight. Unless there is something special about the model number, serial number, other markings on the gun or a document that goes with it, I'd be skeptical.
I've seen photos of a camo UZI Pistol that was supposedly used in a movie or for some special purpose, but it wasn't original IMI.
If you come up with any specific details, post them here and we can get opinions on how authentic they are.

Did the papers or box confirm that the camo was original or were they just normal packaging?

IMI made MANY finishes available since different purchasers in different countries had different needs. The IMI Museum had a bunch of different finishes on display at one time, even white. And yes, desert camo, woodland camo, and even some wild off the wall orangish training guns for the Germans :puke . I know AA advertised those finishes on a special order basis and did import a few. I have no clue how many though. I don't know that it makes a huge price difference either. But it would only matter to that type of collector if it remained unfired (what a waste). Karl.

I still wonder if the special order guns were documented some how from the factory. Without documentation it would be risky to buy one. (At least to pay extra for it.)

Thanks for all the responses. I am going to take a look at it during lunch today and I'll let you know more detail about the Uzi.
Thanks again

I saw the Uzi in question today and it was imported by Actions Arms not Interarms. It is a model A with a cardboard box and a zippered soft case that says Action Arms on it. It has the sight adjustment tool, magazine loader, light tan colored sling, and has been shot. I would estimate it's in about 93-95% condition. Now for the finish...........it looks like a desert camo type pattern and it feels very similar to the camo finish Armalite puts on their AR-10's. It looks original to me. One of the magazines and the barrel has the same finish. Does anyone have any ideas? He priced it to me for $800.00. It has about 10 magazines with it and a magazine holder. Even without the camo I think the price is right.

Sounds like a great price. I sold something similar to what you describe in original finish, for $1000-$1250 a few months ago.

If you like the camo finish, I'd say buy it. It's a good price.

HECK, it sounds like a great deal w/o all the magazines. You may want to look at the mags though while you are at it for the manufacturer marks down by the baseplate. It is always a plus to get the original case and cardboard box. Sounds like a great price for a nice complete set.
