View Full Version : Hey Mick Porno
Got that sewing machine chugging away?
Any updates on the mag rugs? Still a possibility? I'm still interested.

yeah i'm still making patterns....one of the guys that works at the range i shoot at is bringing me a few 32 round uzi mags since i only own 25 and 40 rounders, so i can use them to make a pattern......i was in north carolina all weekend shooting in the 6th annual viking tactics 3 gun match....so i didn't get much work done last weekend.....but i'll try to get some more done this weekend and next week......almost running out of the black denim, gonna have to go get some more.....prior to the match i had to make some gear for myself....made a duty belt with left handed tactical pistol holster **made from a fobus paddle** for my glock and a tactical mount 6-mag holder for the other leg...they worked out great in the match...also am making a shoulder rig for the uzi....patterned after the eagle industries rig....i have one that is working very well but finding some of the hardware needed is turning out to be a challenge...i'll post some pics of that too in case anyone is interested....
BTW: i didn't place very well in the match...it was my first of that type and was very demanding both physically and mentally...but i had a good time and picked up a few prizes...and learned a few things to be better prepared for next year....most of the shooters were either military or law enforcement...about 95%...very few civilian shooters such as myself.....and most of those were sponsored professional shooters.....i'll get em' next year!!!

I compete mostly for fun. But of course, the better you do, the more fun it is. Good luck at the next one. Karl.

thanx....i finally got the caked, dried mud off of my guns yesterday...only a week after the match...and something tells me the next time i take them out i'll find more mud.....can never seem to get it all.....and yes i try to keep telling myself that i'm doing the matches for fun....but scoring well it definitely a bonus....i did have fun and i have the muddy pictures to prove it....i think they'll be having another RECON match in november....i'll be there!!

Mick, I figured it was time to bug you again. I was at a shoot last weekend with a lot of mags banging around in my case. I sure could have used one of your mag rugs!

yeah i'm still working on that....looks like i might need a better **beefier** machine to sew some of these things.....i'm currently using a 35+ year old singer and i'm killing it with the heavy stuff i'm trying to stitch.....what type mags and how many were you looking for it to hold??...lemme see if i have made a pattern for it yet.....if not i can make one....might have to borrow a machine from someone until i can buy a better one.....

I know you received a lot of suggestions and requests the first time around for different configurations. I'd probably buy whatever you came up with. I usually have a bunch or 25 and 32 round mags with me. Typically more 25's than 32's - maybe 2/3's of them 25 round and 1/3 32 round.
If your rug didn't hold enough mags, I'd just buy more rugs!
