I found a 25 rd mag this weekend at a gun show and bought it because it was marked IMI. However, looking through the mag thread I didn't find this particular tool mark. It looks like an IMI mark except that the bottom of both of the I's are connected by a large arc with a large M in the middle. I don't have a camera or scanner with me so I cannot show you what it looks like. It is in very good shape and very well made.

Sound familiar to anyone?

Very interesting. Another member stumbled across one of those earlier this year. I saw a photo of it and it looked like a home made modification. But since you've found another it must be more than that. No idea where it might have been done. I'll have to see if I still have the photo.

Show...what show? Where was it? I didn't hear anything about a GA show this weekend.

Treedawg- The show was in Oklahoma City. Since I was here for the weekend on business, I dropped in. It wasn't anything to write home about. I only saw one UZI SA carbine for sale, no parts kits and maybe 20 mags in the whole place. I bought the 9 best IMI marked mags in the place. They are all 25 rds and most have the star mark and or IMI. This one was unique to me, so I was just curious.

I examined the mark very closely and it looks like an engraving pen was used. Just curious of the origin if anyone knows.

Karl-I sent you a picture. Please post it here.

Thanks,
Mike

It looks hand engraved to me too. Karl.

That's why I tossed the first one of those I saw. But it's interesting that two of them have shown up.

Looks like it was marked by hand, but what the hay...if it works you're in business.....

Are you sure it is an M with 2 connected I's ? It looks more like an M over a large U. Perhaps initials of some kind ? Could be either since we don't know what it is.

At this resolution it is much easier to see the markings. With my 46 year old eyes and dim light it was much harder.

I'll let you know how it works anyway. It is identical to all of the other IMI mags I have. Very good construction.

Well I don't know who did make it, but I do know it wasn't IMI. All IMI tool marks were part of the die that cut (stamped) out the sheetmetal to make the mag. That tool mark most definitely isn't stamped. Hence, not IMI. Karl.

To me it looks like an electric engraving tool, the type you use to put your personal ID or drivers license on your possessions. If the mag is excellent quality and a keeper it may be a moot point after all. In any case if Karl says it is not IMI then it is NOT IMI.:D

Interesting. These things are popping up enough places that I'm going to add it to the magazine section of the reference library. I don't buy the "Israeli Surplus" so I'm going to list the manufacturer as unknown until we can prove something about it.

And I'll add it to the toolmark thread, even though it may not be an actual toolmark. Karl.
