In an original open bolt Uzi SMG, how does the sear hold the bolt back in semi auto operation?

I think I'm right in saying that for full auto operation, the sear pulls all the way down out of the upper receiver channel and the bolt just goes back and forth, stripping rounds from the mag and chambering, then firing them. I don't know how the sear tabs interface with the bolt in semi auto mode though.

When set to "semi", the sear releases from the trigger and pops back up to stop the bolt on each shot. If you remove the lower grip housing and pull the trigger a couple times with it set to FA and semi then you will get an idea of why it works that way.

Wow ok so in the time the bolt is reciprocating the sear can reset. I think I get it.
