I want to buy one of these to fit a micro with a stock. Can the foam be formed to fit the gun perfectly? How is this done? Does anyone have any picutures of this kind of setup? thanks.

You need to look carefully at the case you are buying as many of the cases come with pluck foam. That will not work well! What I do is buy a case like that and then go to a fabric/craft type store and buy foam of various thickness plus a can of the spray adhesive.

Cut a layer to fit the bottom of the case (thickness is up to your taste) with a SHARP knife (box cutters work best). Then get a second layer cut to the same size and cut it to fit your UZI, mags, etc. You may want this final height to be up at the lid foam level or you might want an extra layer of foam so you can place some extras on top.

Once you have the thickness right and everything is cut, use the spray adhesive and glue things together and you will have a custom fit case with room for mags, etc.

Now, for my UZI I went with a more discrete case for normal use... With the UZI there is just too much to bring so here is what I use:

Let's see, 22LR, 9mm, and 45 ACP ammo, Mag loaders (including my Lula), 22LR and 45 ACP conversions, copy of the Form 4 in the lid.

Here I have some of my well used mags including 3 32-rd, 5-25-rd in 9mm, a 22 and 28-rd 22LR, and a 10 and 16-rd 45ACP.

And what good with all those mags and ammo be without the UZI, ready to go in 9mm.

Under the gun is another 1/2-inch layer of foam... it is heavy but I could carry quite a bit more then I happened to have in the case when I just brought it up from the basement. No, I don't store the UZI in the toolbox... I have a MUCH HEAVIER TOOLBOX that my Vector is normally stored in.

Now, if you really want the Pelican... It would look like a smaller version of this:

I think I like the pelican case better, do these come precut, or Do i cut?

They come with "pluck" foam normally... that is why I suggested buying new solid foam and cutting it as you would like. Note, I had to cut foam with BOTH cases above!

so you just cut through the foam, then what sits undernieth the weapon?

Reread what I posted above (try to ignore the pictures perhaps)... :jester

The Pelican is a great case. An alternative can be this Night Vision goggle case on Ebay. I purchased 2 of these cases from this seller for under $88.00 including shipping by contacting him directly. Here's a link to an auction. I believe he may have more.

I already had one that I use for my Micro & accessories. Works fantastically. The two I bought, I'm may use for a couple of MAC's.

Go for a starlight case. Their shotgun case will meet airline overall dimension requirements.

I have one and really like it. If you have an FFL, they are about $130 shipped from Brownells.

I used one with the pluck foam, I thought it worked out very well.

Granted, it's not an uzi, but you get the Idea...

What size Pelican or Storm case would work best for a full size FA Uzi? Assume it has the folder installed.

A Pelican #1495 will fit the UZI SMG.Thats what I bought-I like it because it is only slightly larger than a normal size briefcase-and WAY better looking!
