Saturday I got to take my new Vector FS/SBR to the range. @ 25 Yards it took no sight adjustment's and was dead on no failures to fire feed or anything. Huge thumbs up to the Folks at Vector who put this one together some time back in November of 2006. (the best day part)

Saturday I took my used .22 Vector FA kit to the range with my new extractor.
Could not get it to work very well. most of the time I got failure to fires. It fed and extracted everytime with no problems. I tried increasing the strike force by using a FA spring and it worked a little better, and I also tried putting my m-60 joe buffered on the gun to increase strike force with the .22 spring in, and it would also work a little better,I got the best luck out of Blazer lead nose. CCI mini mags worked the worst, and bulk remington worked so.so. I did get a few 5 and 10 round bursts out of it, but when I was looking @ the fired brass I noticed that the cases were severly bulged near the base,on every case that did fire, and the failure to fires had what looked like a normal firing pin hits on them, but the front rim of the case at the base of the bullet looks like it is getting hung up on the way into the chamber. ( the worst day part).

I have recently acquired an Action Arms 22 caliber conversion kit. I have five magazines for it. I have not had it out to fire yet but I notice that pulling back the cocking lever and letting it attempt to chamber a round is usually not too successful. I know that the 22 conversion units (both Action Arms and Vector) can be made to work reliably. Some of the folks here have done it successfully. I know that there are some variable factors (spring tension and strength, ammo, extractor, etc). By examining the spent cases you can tell some things that might lead you in the right direction. If the cases are bulged right before they enter the chamber then they are detonating before they are seated all the way (or the detonation is occuring as the bolt is extracting the casing..i.e. too soon). I don't know if you tried the gun while it was in semi-auto mode or not but that might provide another factor to figure in. Are there really a lot of folks out there with conversion kits that are just sitting in the closet not being used (because they don't function properly)?
Maybe we can pool our knowledge here and see if this is something that we can all address with our combined years of experience.
