Nubie question.

Just a little confused reading a post that mentioned an 80% reciever. Is there such an animal?? Where can someone purchase one?

Thanks

80% receivers are everywhere, no FFL needed. Do you mean an 80% Uzi receiver? If so, there are a few places that sell them with the templates, Southern Trading comes to mind. Depending on how handy you are at machining, the 80% receiver may be more trouble than just getting a fiinished receiver through your FFL.

80% recievers are the maximuim that they can be machined without having it considered a firearm. If you are considering one for a semi auto, it is a lot of work to finish correctly.

If you are thinking off making a full auto, its not worth the trouble. You cannot legally make a full auto since 1986. The fines and time aren't worth it. You can save for a while and get the real thing.
A lot of the 80% recievers are cheap quality. Most people buy them as a trinket, building a dummy reciever, or just sitting around dreaming.
