I would really enjoy seeing a subgun match but I have yet to see one advertised here in PA. Is there a site that lists upcoming events for different states

Not sure in your area but here in MD local forums and word of mouth. Your not that far I would come to one there and I have alot of locals here that would also. Shoots are kind of a traveling event around this area, we host them mainly at our house's.

TY Glock for the info. Hopefully someone here is from PA or Ohio and they'll post about an upcoming match. The Ohio line is about 20 mins from me so that wouldn't be far to travel. I'm on the Pittsburgh side of PA so Maryland is a haul for me but I'd still love to see a match.
Check sofltodd's signature line. He has a sight dedicated to publishing subgun match information. You should also post a WTK add on the board. An expressed interest will generate replies. Knob Creek is coming up fast and that would be something for you to see,, three days and a night shoot that will move you. There will be many UziTalkers in attendance and there is usually a "get-together" meeting and dinner scheduled.
I, too, live in PA and will taking delivery on my first FA (IMI Uzi) this Saturday. I would be very interested if you learn anything relative to a match here in PA. What I am finding is that gun clubs in PA are not very FA friendly. Some will not let you shoot and others will but only one day a month. For people who are supposedly pro 2A, I am finding a lot of bigotry against FAs. The way the “left” looks at all firearms is the way these gun clubs look at FAs. My feeling is either you are pro 2A or you're not; pistol, shotgun, machine gun, it should not matter. What's your experience been? Thanks.

I live near york, PA. I don't know of any matches but I am always open to getting together to throw some lead down range. I can accomodate a few to shoot right at my house. If we get a larger crowd together, we could drive another hour north to my cabin. (Northern Dauphin County) There, the closest house is a mile away. I have some steel targets etc...
Could be a good time.

JSG... I'm not sure where in PA you are but I'm on the Pittsburgh side about 20 minutes from the Ohio line in Beaver County. There is one gun club in my area which my late husband and I joined since they allowed FA and had a nice range, but after we joined, we found it was FA one day per month with alot of restrictions. We ended up going with a good friend of ours to a private police range so we could shoot FA. We ended up having the entire range to ourselves which was great. Don't know if you live in my area but if you can't find a place to shoot your FA, I might be able to refer you to a couple of places I've found since then. I just need to check on what they allow as far as FA.
Also, there used to be an indoor range where you could shoot just about anything including FA up near Pittsburgh but I don't know if they're still in business. I can't recall the name of the place right at the moment. I'll post if I hear of any matches here in PA.
GunNut.. York is a beautiful area and that's where my husband was originally from. Thats awesome you can shoot in your own backyard. I sure can't shoot in my backyard as I'd have some very very unhappy neighbors :) I don't have my FA anymore but I do have plenty of other toys to shoot so I'll keep you in mind.

You're very welcome Karen!
We have a lot of fun with our matches here, and I'm lucky to live in a place and be associated with good people who dedicate their time to running these once a month... It's a lot of work.
I'm not as competitive as I once was, but I'm enjoying the comradery more than ever. Encouraging new shooters and seeing them do well is just as rewarding as a high finish. My wife is very supportive of my hobby and actually keeps score at our monthly matches.
Lately I've been shooting Vintage Military Semi Automatic Rifle, ViMBAR, and Vintage Military Bolt Action Rifle, ViMBAR, matches and I'm really enjoying the one shot, one kill scoring venue. I've shot on my company's trap team in the past and I enjoy most facets of the shooting sports. Still, the subgun matches are my favorites and I hope you can locate one in your area. Watching someone run shoot a stage in near perfection is a thing of beauty, and we have some superb shooters on this board.
Todd is still updating his calendar as he's made aware of other events around the country, and I know he'd appreciate learning of other matches held in different areas. Looks like he missed the AZ State Submachine Gun Championship held yesterday at Rio Salado. :slap I've had some luck there in the past, and I'd loved to have been there again this year.
My oldest daughter was married Friday night and she didn't seem to understand the importance of the AZ State match. I can't believe she insisted I walk her down the isle!

The one your thinking of was Bullseye it closed down the end of 2005.
Greater Pittsburgh Gun club when it was open allowed F/A.
As for local subgun matches there are none. Obvously as you found out most W. PA ranges hate F/A. There is a range in washington county that may open up to subguns. I'm hoping that it may be a location for some future matches.

Karen,
I also live in Beaver County, just moved here last year, but used to live in Butler county. I assume you're talking about the Beaver Valley Rifle and Pistol club (I don't know the exact name) on Brady's Run. I've heard they allow FA there once a month. There is also a MG shoot I've heard about, but never gone to, somewhere near Koppel or so, once a year. I hear it
's somewhat exclusive.
I shoot on my own property a good bit here, but always suppressed when in FA. I have heard some FA fire on weekends in the vicinity of my home when I'm out and about the yard, but I can't tell where it's coming from.

Karen,
p.s. I belong to a club up near New Castle that grudgingly allows me to shoot FA. There's always some dick trying to shut me down in the meetings, usually because he heard someone else bump firing or something. But if you're careful, and willing to submit to a "safety demonstration" to one of the range officers (whom I know), they might let you shoot there.
Rules include:
FA firearm must be properly registered (duh!)
Shooter must be a member.
Shooter must be the registered owner of the weapon (no letting others shoot it :( )
Only on certain high-walled bays on the range.

which NC club?
I'm in southern York county - there's another indoor F/A friendly range in Glen Rock, just south of York. It's called Freedom Armory and they have indoor sub guns F/A as well as an indoor centerfire rifle F/A range that's rated up to .50 caliber (supposedly). It isn't very cheap, but in the dead of winter you can shoot your Uzi or your M16...

Karen,
I feel your pain. I used to belong to the Beaver Valley range. When I joined they were very F/A friendly. At the new member's orientation it was said, "If you can get it through the gate, you can shoot it there." Boy, did things change. As mentioned before it is heavily restricted now. The last rules I had only allowed F/A the last Sunday of the month after the high power matches and only if a board member was present. Can you guess that I'm not a member any more :chairhit
There is a F/A friendly range over near New Philadelphia, OH. Tusco Rifle Range www.tuscorifle.org I'm in Southern, Butler Co. and it's about a 2.5 hour drive for me. They even let you shoot fun stuff, just don't burn the range down and it's okay. :uzi
Pennsylvania is one of the most liberal states when it comes to C3 ownership. You can pretty well own anything short of a Thermonuclear device. But try and find a range to enjoy your C3 toys. I can honestly say that I have done more F/A shooting in OH and KY than I have in my home state. That is sad. Guess I have to save up and get a big chunk of ground. But then there is always the pain in the ass neighbor that will turn you in for anything.

Usually when the PSP show up they just say hi and then leave.
That tends to piss the neighbors off even more :evilgrin

I have two friends that are PSP. Wouldn't that be a kick, have them come over in their cruisers and stay and shoot for a while. :nana

So far I haven't had any complaints from the neighbors...I've even heard FA fire on occasion some weekends.

I'm down in Greencastle. I can shoot in my backyard. Anything I want. No probs from the neighbors about the noise either. I was shooting my automag out back a little while ago and a bunch of the neighbors were out picnicing and thought it was cool.
If you want to stop down, pm me and we'll go out back and dump a few mags, weather permitting. It's only a little over 30 yds, but it's private.

Carcass.. I was talking about the Beaver Valley Pistol & Rifle Club. I know they're FA rules have really changed. Koppel is like 20 mins from me! I had no idea they have subgun matches there. If you know anything about it, please PM me.. exclusive or not. I happen to know a few people to maybe get past that exclusive stuff.
Mtdew.. I was talking about Bullseye and I just heard over the past couple of weeks that they closed down which is unfortunate.
BeltFed.. I'm considering getting a membership at Beaver Valley Rifle just to be able to shoot my semi auto goodies during the cold months, but I'm finding that their indoor range has a ton of clubs that use the range so use of the indoor range is very limited time wise. I do have access to a police range that's outdoors where I can shoot anything but I hate to go there and freeze to death shooting semi auto!
Vegas... I do have family out in Vegas. Hopefully on my next trip, I can plan to attend one of your subgun matches.

Hey Patriot,
I live up near Raystown Lake. I was at your little gun show a few weeks ago at the Mason-Dixon Auto Auction. I'll have to say hi and maybe buy you a cup of joe next time I'm in town....

We are working on getting our club to accept a couple of full auto shoots a year. Our local PD train at our range using full auto. What we need is members who feel the same way we do. So if you got a few extra bucks and live within driving distance of SE PA, why not come join and see if together we can get some traction on an outdoor full auto shoot.....

Just to let you guys and gals know there is a place in Philly that lets you shoot full auto. It's indoor and you can shoot anything up to a 50 bmg. The only reason you can't shoot 50 there is it will knock out their lights. It's called South Philadelphia Archery & Gun http://philadelphiaarcheryandgunclub.com/
I want there once on a Saturday morning to shoot and the line was out the door. It's a small place.I bunch of nice people working their .So now I shoot at
http://www.rafire.com/ Good guys, range rates are good, and you shoot full auto all you want and bring your own ammo. It's about 55 mins from me.
