What all finishes have been used on Uzi's by the factories over the years? I suppose parkerizing is the primary finish, but have different manufaturers used different finishes?

IMI semi auto guns imported to the US have a paint-like finish. I believe it is baked enamel. Matching it is tricky as it is not quit flat, and not glossy. I tried satin black GunKote and it turned out just a bit shiney, where the IMI is not.

Everything else UZI I've seen is parkerized. One lower from an IMI kit had a green-grey park -very rough and sandy looking. But yes, parkerizing is the primary finish for the military stuff.

I know Duracoat has somewhat of a bad rap, but I've had some good success with it.
Duracoats "HK Black" is the closest match to the original Action Arms finish.
It looks pretty good.

Although, all the IMI Mini and Micro's I have ever seen were all black.
Including the few pictures I've seen of them in Israel were black also.

For $150 I had my Vector refinished in a semi-gloss Armor Kote.

I've never heard anything negative about Duracoat. What's the deal with it? I was considering getting some so please enlighten me.

Just do a search under "Duracoat" but here is a thread (http://www.uzitalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26591&highlight=duracoat)I remembered.....

I just Duracoated my first gun and it turned out great. But long term???
Opinions just vary I think.
I'll stop there so I don't hijack the thread.

Duracoat is great, as a finish. At that, its not scratch resistant, its not fool proof, its just a finish. You can mess it up, you can spray it improperly.....everything I've seen of it thus far is awesome. I love the HK semi gloss black and the OD WWII.
