Well I ordered the kit today and 3 extra 28 round magazines from vector. The lady on the phone said I was #60 on the waiting list so hopefully I wont have to wait too long. She confirmed what others have said on here that the kits are ready to go just waiting on barrels to come in.I allready have 1 barrel so I will at least have an extra and later I will order a couple extra extractors if I can.
Now to start buying .22 ammo in bulk.

I'd hold off on buying ammo in bulk until you get the thing and try some different rounds through it. Mine is very picky about what ammo I use. Some jams every other time, while others work nearly 100% (I've never shot more than 2-3 mags before I get a jam -- its not as dependable as it is shooting 9mm).

I called Vector yesterday morning and got on the list. I think I was #55. What size mag does the conversion come with?

28 rounder
Rex told me that they stopped making the 20 rounder as nobody wanted them.

Good point Ill just start stashing some ammo money now so ill be ready when it comes in.

These kits are so fun I may buy a spare. I got mine used. It came with a threaded barrel and four mags that work. I bought another two from Vector that do not work. I returned them and the replacements don't work either. Maybe they will work in a Vector conversion (I think mine was made by someone else).

How much does Vector want for them?

Interesting. I have a half-dozen or so 20-round mags for my .22 conversion. I haven't paid much attention lately, but I'd previously heard that the 28 round mags weren't as reliable. Anyone have much experience with both?

Rex mentioned that to me also stating that for some reason, the rumor was that the 20 rounder was more reliable which isn't true.

I have 1 20 rounder and never use it. The 28 rounders work fine as long as they are not too dirty.

Yes, here is my opinion, and worth what it cost ya. It has to do with spring force in the mag vs. spring force in the recoil spring. If you are shooting higher power .22 loads with the original .22 recoil spring the 28's work fine- loaded to 27-28. But if I'm using standard velocity or weaker subsonic rounds with a weakened or cut down recoil spring, the bolt doesn't have enough momentum to over-power the mag spring with all the rounds in the 28. I can only load to 21-22. So, the 20 rounder I can load to 18 or so. Also the 20 rounder I can load to 18 without the Vector loader just with my fingers and I can do it quick. These kits are real finicky, as everyone knows, or is about to find out. When you first get your kit try Win. Super X 40gr (what Vector uses), or CCI 40gr mini mags to see what it will do,and then later, start trying other ammo. Your bolt should slide freely back and forth in the receiver all the way to the back with no recoil spring installed and you should be able to put a round in your barrel (bbl out of gun) and it should just drop free with no resistance when you turn the barrel upside down. I agree with the Amphib. that these .22 mags have to be kept exceptionally clean. The .22 bullets are coated with sticky crap that combined with how incredibly dirty the rounds are anyway, just exacerbates the rate at which you need to clean your mags. The .22 kits are fun as hell and I shoot my gun every day with mine when I'm home. Its rewarding to get one running right as well.

Winchester Super-X is the best ammo for my kit, but I can't seem to find the stuff anymore. Where do you buy it?

I can't find any Winchester here in Georgia. I got mine in Utah at Sportsmans Warehouse. I'm getting low on Dynapoints and Super X. Have to go online and pay the freight I guess. Lemme know if you find a good source.
