Chili17 was saying you could use a A2 as a thread protector on your threaded Uzi bbl. Any of you cats doin' this? Sounded like good idea to me. I guess you need the A2 that they put on the 9mm AR's, huh.

I have a barrel that was chopped and threaded to 1/2 x 36 (Colt 9mm threading). I use a Colt 9mm A1 flash hider to protect the threads.

The barrel in question is 1/2x28 tpi., so I guess it wouldn't work unless you drilled out the FH.

Correct, you would have to bore out a 5.56 flash hider to clear the larger bullet.

9mm AR thread is 1/2x36. 5.56 AR is 1/2x28. If you want the standard 1/2x28 thread then yes you need to open the flashider for a 9mm bullet. If using it on a .22 barrel then you are fine.

You can also just cut the FH part off too.

I used a standard 5.56 A1 FH and bored it out with a 7/16" (.4375") carbide endmill. Works great. The FH is some tough steel!!
My barrel is threaded 1/2"-28 for my SWR Trident.

Thanks guys. If i'm just using it as a thread protector I can just use the A2. I would want to have it bored to pass a .355 bullet though ( a FH would be a hell of a barrel obstruction if somebody shot the sucker)

BB,

You are correct. I'm sure Richard would sell you a correctly sized 9mm FH.

Thanks. I thought the whole FH for a bbl. nut sounded good, but I don't want a FH on a gun that can't pass a bullet, for safety reasons.
