Ok all of you high round count UZI shooters. Has anyone come close to wearing out a Full Size, Full Auto bolt (in 9mm)?

I'm thinking 3 spare bolts in my stash should be enough for at least one lifetime of shooting, possibly two. What say you?

Yes, I think 3 spare bolts should be enough to get you and your kids a lot of shooting. I was talking to Tony Dee about wear issues on the high use rental guns that have The Gun Store in Las Vegas. He's had frequent problems with the UZI bolt faces chipping but only when shooting the frangible ammo, which is higher pressure. He said it wasn't a problem before going to frangible.

I bought spare bolts from Vector. I forget what the cost was. They appeared to be new. I think I have 3 spares as well.

I bought several sears. I would guess the sear would wear out before the bolt.

On one of my M11s the bolt rounded where it engaged the sear. I simply recut the surface and it worked fine again. UZI bolts seem way harder than Cobray bolts by my calibrated fingers.

Thanks, btw DS Arms has sears, or at least they did.

I've had mine for a little while. One, brand new from a friend and two from Coles kits (when they had them.) Plus one which came with the firearm.

I know a guy that has the full size smg bolts with the extractor and pin that are used in good condition for sale. He said if I buy a good amount from him he would sell them to me for $50 ea. If interested let me know and I will see if I can get enough people together to buy them from him.

Can he get us a picture of the used bolt. So we can see the extend of the usage?

Here are the pics of one of them I purchased. Some are a nice dark green some are a lighter green.

I would be in for a bolt assembly as well.

Just a thought but wouldn't using steel case ammo be a factor in bolt wear with wear on the mag lips and extractor as well? Steel on steel vs. steel on brass?

Doubt it.
The bolts are hardened and the steel cases are soft in comparison.
I wouldn't hesitate for a second to use it.

Steel can be made harder than a bolt or softer than brass.

There are countless varieties of steel.

The steel used in ammo cases is on a par with the softness of brass.

Of course, there are those that have a rabid aversion to steel case ammo and will exaggerate, pass on rumors and/or outright lie about steel wearing out their weapon, causing kabooms, giving them herpes, etc.

(It's a condition known as anti-Steel Hysteria. It is rarely curable as the only known treatment requires small doses of common sense. :D )

The plain simple truth is that steel case ammo with not wear any part of your UZI unduly.

Yeah, and the best part... you can police your "brass" with a magnet:D
