Hey All,

I'm going to ask some questions, maybe they've been asked before. If so, sorry!!

Why doesn't Ciener make an UZI .22, AUTO kit? I know the demand might not be as great as other guns, but in your opinion, would these sell?

I called Vecto this summer-June? July? I was told that I was put on a "list" for an AUTO-.22 kit. I NEED to call and follow up on this-this is my fault.

Are the few that float on gunboards(22 auto kits) good? They're a little old, if they break down-then what?

Please inform me on this topic.:uzi

Thanks!!
Cohiba

Unlike a lot of other guns, the UZI (both semi-auto and full auto) have had .22 conversion kits available for a long time (Action Arms, Group Industries, Vector.) I suppose he decided to invest his time doing conversions for guns that didn't already have .22 solutions.

Vector is just getting their .22 kits back on the market now. Give them a call.

Actually, he has done them in the past.
Friend of mine that knows him personally has seen the kits and they work very well.
He asked why he doesn't continue to do them and he said that there are too many variations between the IMI factory vs conversions vs Group factory FA vs Group conversions etc...
Not that big a deal in my opinion, just repeating what he said.

Ciener didn't do them in any significant numbers. During the time of all the Group Industries law suits, one of the Group Industries guys tried to sell Ciener a bunch of their .22 kits. He just wasn't interested.

Okay........................other than waiting for Vector, which I'll more than likely do. Which one of the conversions should I go with or stay away from.

Just my luck, I'll run across one of these and I'll buy the wrong one!!

***Which one to go with*** Also....magazines??

Thanks,
Cohiba

Without a doubt, get the Vector kit.
I didn't have to do any mods in one of my RR's for it to work.
When I put the kit in another receiver the ejector would hit the rounds and Vector's instructions are to grind some off the ejector.
I've got a few spare lowers so I tried swapping and found that one of them lined up so I didn't have to modify my ejector and it still works fine w/ 9mm or .45.

For full auto use, the IMI kits are really the only ones to stay away from. They shoot so fast that they aren't very practical or fun - especially with the low capacity mags they come with. Your only real option these days is the Vector kit. The good news is that they should be ready to ship in volume now. They only had a few kits at Knob Creek due to barrel shortage but they are supposed to have barrels by now.

I talked to Rex at Vector on Friday. Hew said the kits will be ready in 2 weeks. Just wait for one of these And get some extra extractors and another recoil spring. One for hot ammo and the other you can cut coils off for standard velocity and bulk pack ammo. Just my .02.
