Anyone want to fess up to buying this box on Flea-bay today?
This was the auction. (http://cgi.ebay.com/Uzi-9mm-45-Pistol-Box-W-Instr-Manual-More_W0QQitemZ150174020915QQihZ005QQcategoryZ10697 2QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem)
Haven't seen one of those sell in a while.
Anyone here bid on it? The bidders names were privately listed so admitting to it will not give up your Flea-bay name.
Come on, fess up :bequiet

$125.00 for a box?
Hey, I've got the big box that my 60" Plasma TV came in. I'll let someone come by a take it for only $800.00 and I'll throw in a 27 year old copy of TV guide.
I even have a half full box of Capt. Crunch that I'll "sacrifice" for $37.00.......Shipping not included....

It wasn't me. I've got one safely tucked away in the closet.

Ok, I'll fess up. I bid on it, but didn't win it.
I hate spending that much on boxes, but if a person wants it to complete a collection, it may be worth it to them.
I've spent way too much on accessories, but it's what I want to do. Sometimes you pay too much for something, but if it's available and you want it, go for it.
Too much for a cardboard box? Maybe or maybe not.
Ever want something bad enough that cost wasn't a factor and you bought it anyway? Then I rest my case.
I don't have one of these boxes yet, and it's the first time I've seen one up for sale by itself in 2 1/2 years. I didn't win it so I move on.
Anyone want to sell theirs? :wiggle
For once I'd like to find something that RoverDave didn't have.
Oh, RD, you don't have one of those super rare Uzi thingamabobbies? I've got one tucked away in my closet. It's in perfect condition. I thought everyone had one of those. :nana

Wasn't me.
"The box will be shipped in another box". Maybe a 2 fer 1 deal??
Off topic a bit but I was offered $100 once for a old wooden Dupont dyamite box that my dad had. Didn't have the top or he would have gave $150. Didn't take him up on it though as it once belonged to my dad. I did move it out of the barn though and put in in the house. Now I keep a lot of other old things in it.
It is unreal what some things bring in price.

I'm still a relatively new member of this Forum, new to UZI, and I don't always understand the subject threads or the personal interplay of the various members, but who cares who bought the box and how much they paid for it??????? One man's trash is another man's treasure, and if he wants it and can pay for it, what difference does it make?
Just an observation! My comments are not meant to create harsh feelings or controversy. I haven't posted to this Forum very often and when I have, it has been very beneficial and I have gained knowledge and all of you folks have been very helpful, so I thank you for that.

When PS2 first came out, there was an auction on Ebay.
IIRC, the title and description of the auction read: "PS2 box, instruction manual- New". The boneheads that bid on it were obviously not English scholars, or they would have noticed the location of the comma being after the box. So they actually bid on and won a PS2 Box and a PS2 instruction manual, both in new condition...
A $400 box.

A box can make a collection complete
It can add big bucks to the collector value of a firearm.
BUT
I see that this box is serialized to the gun that came with it. A true collector would not consider his collection complete with this box.

Well you're right in my book but I think he was just having some fun.
The point I take from this thread is that many of us get caught up in this obsession and pay big dollars for items that seemingly have little value.

I accept your observation.
What difference does it make? Truly it really doesn't.
I myself don't mind knowing who got something I was bidding on or looking at.
If I wanted it that bad I would have bid higher. That's the purpose of an auction.
Who cares? I happen to care. That's why I asked.
If no one wants to admit it, no big deal. Heck, it may not even be anyone here.
If I found out who got it, I may work a trade with that person some day.
Maybe I just wanted to say congrats on getting that box. Way to go!!
One mans trash is another mans treasure.
In my mind, someone got a treasure in that box.
Whoever got it, way to go.

I agree. I always try to find the box and anything that may have come with that gun.
To me, it completes the gun.
BUT
I see that this box is serialized to the gun that came with it.
No big deal.
The serial number is just on a sticker.
If you're creative, just remove the original sticker and have another made in the same font, with your serial number.
Problem solved.

Everyone is different when it comes to the collecting side of things.
Some people just get the gun and shoot, shoot, shoot.
I love to do that, but I also search, search, search... for all the accessories that may have, or could have, come with that gun.
I guess I'm just an accessory addict!!!
Now if I could just get one of those plastic Uzi pins and a .41AE operation manual!!! :bang

Me too!! I want one.:goofygrin
Does anyone know what was so rare about that manual which I posted the link to in my above thread?
I would love to eventually have one or two Action Arms catalogs and another AA FS UZI with one of those certificates of authenticity you had to mail in for. Those would be nice additions to my humble collection. Oh and I did not want one before but I am kind of now wanting an UZI SWAT case too.:wiggle
For a while now if I don't recieve some type of UZI related item in the mail on a weekly basis I start to get the shakes.:paranoid
Nothing new about this, Pre-64 Model 70 boxes have been bringing over a $100 for a few years now, and they are just brown card board boxes with the sticker on one end. Another firearm box that is bringing over $100 is the old 3-screw Ruger boxes.
Heck, you can't ever tell what is gonna be worth big bucks a few years down the road! Remember those lunch boxes that you carried to grade school? :D
Speaking of boxes, anybody have a box for one of these?
Anybody recognize the manufacturer? Here's a hint. This gun was only manufactured in 1986-87.
Anybody but RoverDave have a guess?

I may be wrong, but didn't e-bay stop allowing auctions with all firearm related merchandise? I think there was a thread about it a while back. If that was the case, I guess the box made it past the e-bay nazis.

Egay stopped auctions of gun parts that were "firing" related. Bolts, barrels, firing pins, mags, etc.
You can still sell grips, boxes, sights, springs...
Congrats JDP7!!

I have some bullets and ammo that is lost in the closet. I think the box is in there too. I saw one for sale at KCR in the box for $100. Thats why I got it out, forgot all about it.
Do you have the sling for yours?
Nope, just the gun, the magazine and two packages of ammo.
I was actually going to sell it. Do you know if the one at the Creek for $100sold?
I just saw it on a table.
Please PM me if you want to sell one package of ammo.
Thanks,
JDP7

Ok Firefighter...
I have that same box that you missed, but I didnt bid on it either... And I'd be happy to sell it ALL to you, with all the inards, and a 9mm conversion kit.
Now make me that offer, and make my day.

PS - Oh yeah... tell me when you're coming to the Big D and we'll assemble a contingent to shoot.

I buy boxes to match old guns that I have. Recently purchased the correct box for a mint Colt Woodsman, first model. It is from the late 1920s. The gun is in better shape than the box but until I find an 'upgrade' I am glad to have this one. Some of my military collectibles did not come in a box so I am out of luck there.
Sadly, one of my UZI's boxes got sold on eBay before I bought it. It came with a 'correct' box but it is serialized to another gun and is not in the best of shape. Somehow the original owner had two boxes, one was in mint condition and I suggested that he sell one of them on eBay. Later he tells me that he sold the 'wrong' one...the one to the gun that I bought from him. I talked him down the $150 he got for "my" box.
