Hi All!

'nother dumb Uzi Question! I am in the process of picking up a SA UZI, (Still looking for the best deal!) and I would like to mount my CAC9 can. What is the best way of doing this. My can has the thread pitch from my Mac 10/9. I guess the most practical way is to SBR the beastie and thread a short barrel. The CAC9 is a bit of a long suppressor, and putting it on a 16 inch barrel would, (I think?), be kinda awkward.

Are after market 10" threaded barrels available? If so from where and how much?

Is there any pit falls of moving my suppressor from my class 3 to a semi rifle or SBR? I don't want to make Uncle ATF unhappy with me! (I don't think it is a problem since I have a separate tax stamp for the CAC9 but it doesn't hurt to ask FIRST!)

Sorry if these are Dumb/Newbie Questions! (but they probably won't be my last!:goofygrin )

Thanks!
Fred

P.S. Do I understand correctly that a SBR is a $200 Transfer tax.... I thought it was only $5.00 but I have been wrong before!

Kind of like this? Only mine is a CAC45 (still works with 9mm, though).

I had my barrel chopped & threaded 1/2-28. Previously, I'd had TROS make me a thread adapter to go from the MAC threads to 1/2-28 so I could use the can on various 9mms & .22s.

One thing to keep in mind is that the can will still tend to work its self loose coarse MAC threads, so you will want to check the can for tightness fairly often.

I ended up drilling and installing a roll pin through the threads on the can / adapter to keep the adapter in place. The finer 1/2" threads tend to stay screwed on better. Not sure if you really want to start messing with your can in this manner, though.

To answer your other questions, I don't know of any aftermarket barrels, but you could get a gunsmith or machinist to chop and thread your semi-auto barrel after getting the paperwork approved for your SBR.

Yes - it is a $200 tax for the SBR. You don't have to file any extra paperwork to move the can around from gun to gun. That's the nice thing about a muzzle can. You can just buy one and thread a bunch of different guns.

My Uzi w/AWC Mk9 barrel nut mount.

If you is determined to use you CAC-9, send a spare barrel and barrel nut to M60Joe.com, he can/will affix and machine a sleeve to take the CAC straight up like the M11-9. He can also install a 3-lug mount to the CAC (permanent), then 3-lug all your barrels.

Hey Guys,

Excellent! That is just the info. I was looking for! Yup, that Bower's can
sure looks familier! (I got mine at Tactical Innovations) It looks better then I would have thought on an Uzi! The roll pin mod is a good idea, mine has worked loose shooting my Mac 10/9 several times. The 3 lug does make a lot of sence if you spend alot of time bouncing it around! I'll post pic's when I get mine set up!

Thanks for the help!

Fred

P.S. is the wait for a SBR as long as a class 3?

The wait for SBR approval is as long as for a machine gun or suppressor.

Found this barrel on gunbroker, it is a little pricey, but so is the $200 to Uncle, for the SBR tax stamp! It is kind of a neat set up, and does save the need for a thread adapter, and having a stock barrel cut and threaded!
