WOW!!!!
I can only say that this was one of the best weekends I have ever had! It was my first ever subgun match (shot service rifle comp years ago) and I had a ball. Beemer; thank you so much for all the good hospitality, good food, and for all the work you put into this. You are truely a fine Southern Gentleman.
I really enjoyed getting to meet some of you guys face to face and I hope we get to shoot together in the near future (Spring match Beemer?!?!). I'm sure it will be even better next time.
Jake.....Please PM me about those mag springs and followers we talked about.

Well that was a long weekend!
I still haven't finished cleaning and reassembling the Uzi (I am hoping to spend a few minutes modifying the palm safety per MGs directions tonight). Getting everything unpacked back into the gun closet took longer than I expected. I think I will organize things differently next time.
First off...thanks George for a fun time! As I mentioned there simply aren't any subgun matches near me in N GA. I am hoping that will change soon. Hell I can't even practice FA fire at any ranges local to me, Which was probably obvious to everyone in my squad. :D
I like to shoot a lot, but damn George! I grossly underestimated how many mags I would need for this match and it killed me on most of the stages. Running out of ammo sucks!
It was nice to meet some folks from Uzitalk as well as some other gunboards. It's a small world indeed!
A special note of thanks to Jim and Monty for giving me a ride to and from the range...and all the interesting gun talk enroute.
The Red Roof Inn will never get another penny of my money. Both times I have stayed there the door keys barely worked. Jim and Monty's room had a dehumidifier (what's up with that?) And this time they were rude to the wife as well. I'll probably try to find a nicer place to stay on the south side of the range next time.
Someone wanted me to make a side-cocking latch for their UZI like mine...I am not sure he had internet access. He was shooting an MP40. If anyone has contact info for him let me know please.
Everyone on my relay was super-friendly and I learned a lot watching folks shoot and talking about their techniques/methods/strategies. Thanks to all of you for putting up with a machinegun n00b.
When is the Spring shoot? :D

It was agreat 1st NC match and Shoot-what made it great were the shooters!! Ya'll made it a great time while I was cutting my teeth trying to set up a good match-I told you guys the match would take at least 500rds-Jakeyou did us proud-1300+rds did you shoot? As always, you had a ball and never meet a stranger!, Jason-thanks for coming, Stimpsoncat-you had the longest drive-2 round trips from Georgia for 1 match-I see your wife came to keep an eye on you since you were just here a few weeks ago!! The .22match is going to be written up in SAR mag. Capt. Monty had a great time, made the old guy huff and puff, Jim Weaver had a great shoot also. You guys, I can't thank you enough for coming to inaugurate this 1st match, we will be holding another in the 1st qtr. of 08-I will try to post pictures later this evening-Beemer:biker

Great Time! Weather was great. Started off raining(friday) people were fearful but the waether man came through and ended up real nice.
Beemer and I tried to do our best in making it a worth while, and fun filled weekend.
Jake it was great meeting you, I'll send you my email to get the pictures from you. Jason it was great seeing you again, Semper Fi. And also the others I met who are on the other forums and what not.
I think next time we might leave out the paper. It will still be a lot of rounds but atleast everyone will know whether or not they hit the target.
Please post comments so we can make notes and next time will be even more enjoyable

I had a great time also. The best part was the comradery. I have met very few machinegun owners. I am the only one among my shooting friends. So hanging out with fellow machinegunners was fantastic fun, as well as being a great learning experience.
I was on the same squad as "stimsonjcat". He is correct, everyone on that squad was nice to hang out with.
Really looking forward to the next match. This was my first SMG match. Now that I know a little of what to expect, hopefully I can be better prepared for the next one.

Just posted on the Subguns Board and now here officially-There will be another match-looking at March 29/30, 2008. The weekend after Easter-Stimpsoncat-listenup-the LAST WEEKEND in March!!-The match will be different, but bring lots of bullets. You will not need as many for the match itself, but we will have 4 different "mini matches" and you may shoot any or all of them. There will be open ranges again for general shooting, etc, another jungle shotgun walk, better equipped R/O's-They will be assigned to each mini match and will get to shoot first. Rentals will again be available, similar to this past one.
To better anticipate the # of shooters we will need to have advance registration and prepayment, the match will run on Sat and Sunday if needed. Will have no more than 12 people shooting /squad/match/4matches running simultaneously. Entry fee will still be $25.00 for food, two days shooting and one match, additional matches will be $10.00/match.
Camping(free) on the grounds-no amenities except the fully plumbed outhouse, motorhomes, campers, tents are welcome, bring your generators, there will be security at the range at nite-the road/gate will be locked at 10pm and reopened at 8:00am, no shooting on the range after 1800hrs, campers may want to go sample southport and the local areas, we will also have a group hotel, probably the same one unless you want to pay $100.00+/nite near the range(they are proud of their rooms). Make your plans, give me notice and we'll get started. It won't be hurricane season so this will usher in the winds of spring-hopefully March will go out like a lamb!!-Beemer
PS-the only casualty this time was me-I drooped my big Beemer in a mud hole on the way out of the range Sat. nite-reason I couldn't join for dinner as planned-no serious damage but my bikes' pissed at me!!:biker :biker :biker

Soren, Semper Fi!! Only suggestion from me is more steel, less paper. Not because I SUCKED so badly at paper (which I did), but because I thought the steel was more fun. I think the round count per stage was perfect with the exception of stage two. I had 8 30 rounders and used all 8 on this stage (of course I missed a lot too:D ). I think the rest of my squad felt the same way. Guys???
Dedicated RO's would help too to make sure everyone was on the same page as far as scoring and course of fire is concerned. I see from Beemers post that this is already in the works for next time.
All in all, it was a FANTASTIC inaugural event. You really did a great job setting this up Beemer. I sincerely appreciate it.

Man, that SUCKS!!!! That driveway was pretty slick though. I am impressed you got that rig in there at all as muddy as it was. Maybe in the spring I'll ride mine up there!!! I think I can fit a couple of guns in the trunk/saddle bags!:biker
