Pre-ban Norinco???

I'm new to Uzi's and have a question. A guy here has what he says is a pre-ban norinco uzi for sale (w/folding stock, etc). From what I've read, it doesn't appear that there were any. Did Norinco import any prior to the ban or am I asking for trouble to pick it up with the evil folding stock? aTdhvaannkcse.

lrrp, welcome to UZI Talk! You've come to the right place to ask your questions. There were no pre-ban Norincos. The seller is either lying to you or just passing along mis-information. In either case you should stay away from the gun.

It is possible to replace the thumbhole stock as long as you have decreased the number of imported parts in the gun. Once that is done, you could put a metal stock on the gun but it would have to be welded open. A working folder on a Norinco is not allowed. There's always the chance that that could change next year depending on what happens with the assault weapons ban.

Ditto on the above post, I have a friend working on a wood buttstock to increase my US part count, another issue with the Norinco that will not disappear if the ban sunsets. Do a search on "Norinco" and you will find all you need to know here. :)

Thanks much to all. I question the wisdom of some of the laws (gee, if I put one upper on one AR I own it's ok, if I put it on another I'm a criminal), but I'm not going to knowingly break a law. It just doesn't make sense. Oh well, I guess I need to find another toy.

Hopefully the toy you find will be an UZI and you'll hang around here. You can always get a pre-ban IMI semi auto.

I agree, you can get a semi pre-ban for a song right now, check gunsamerica.com from time to time you can pick up a decent semi for under a thousand.
