I fihnally got around to cutting down some semi buffers. I had mine machined exactly to 1.425 as somebody recommended. Well it's obviously too long because I couldn't pull the bolt all the way back.
To get it open I had to lift off the top cover and well I didn't pay attention to where the tip of my finger TIP was, in the ejection port. When that bolt went home, it went home on my index fingernail.
YEEEEEEEEEOOOOOWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!
It's all black now and I'm betting it's gonna fall off. How am I going to explain to people at work how this happened?

It usually only happens once.
Hope it heals quickly.

If you go to a doctor he will "drill" a small hole in your nail, this will relieve the pressure and you won't lose the nail, do it soon though or it won't help. Had it done to my thumb a few years back, it does not hurt and the pain you feel now will be gone once the pressure is relieved.

Hey Blackjack, this is a good reminder to include some sort of warning or disclaimer with any of the longer buffers you sell. You don't need anyone coming back and blaming you for a similar accident. Maybe you should recommend that anyone using a long buffer should remove the ratchet pawl from their top cover until they verify that the buffer isn't too long.

Mine are all cut 1.42" O.L. & I have NO problem cocking my Vector UZI.
Burnt fingers from hot barrels...
Crushed fingernails from flying bolts...
My advice... stay away from the F.B.I. barrels too.
You can still count to 21 ...can't you? ...j/k

Stymie,
Why would you stay way from the FBI barrels?

But arn't the 3-lug barrels and mac threaded barrels the same length? Wouldn't you have the same potential danger of shooting your hand off with an MP5 since its muzzle is so close to the hand guard?
