Hello,

I am new here and need to know how to tell a Preban from a postban UZI. My friend has one for sale and does not know.

It is a 9mm with the folding stock and has an extra long dummy barrel along with a shorter one and a soft padded case that looks like a tennis racket case.

Thanks...

Who made it, does the fella have the original receipt, or know the date/place of purchase? If he knows the point of purchase, go find the 4473 if FFL still in business.

If Action Arms, with manual with matching serial number sticker in/on the book, it will be a Pre-ban, more than not.

I can only hope that in a mere year, IMI or Vector or both will be making nice shiny domestic SA Uzis with all the "evil" features and the AWB will be in the rear view mirror.

Maybe some of the LEO mags and guns will become valuable collector items.

Dreams are wonderful things when they come true :) :)

FWIW, we'll still be stuck with the other 3 bans though ('68, '86 & '89 - sigh!).

The only "post-ban" that I'm aware of are the Norinco Uzis. Vector had some for sale according to the Shotgun News ad but I have yet to see one or know of anyone on this board that owns one. :dunno

Any receiver, regardless of when it was made, would be post-ban if it was first assembled after 1994. I don't think that accounts for a big percentage of what's out there but a guy does have to watch out for it.

Vector advertises post-ban semi's on their web site. I nevered asked them but I assume they actually have some. Like kanewtervalve said though, they probably haven't sold many.
