Hello Gents,
To say the least, I was very dissappointed with the rate of fire on the Uzi. Seemed kind of slow. Someone on the list here talked about manufacturing buffers, but I couldn't wait. Purchased one from from CDNN in Abilene. It was 1.8" in length. Cut it down to 1.4". Works very well. Tried it out with the Brown Bear 145 grain sub sonic, didn't miss a beat. Even took away that klunk klunk of the bolt movement. Almost like a new gun.
Now I have another problem. My 25 round magazines are no longer sufficient! They empth too quick. Guess I'll be calling Vector for the 32 rounders.
Despite the new problem, it shoots more like a maghine gun should. The MAC is still much faster.

Just a note. At 1.8", the buffer wouldn't allow the bolt to lock back. Probably already knew that.

Chicken Men, welcome to the faster ROF club. Check out this thread (http://www.uzitalk.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=2710) for some info on rates of fire. You'll be able to figure out how much the buffer changed your ROF. The length you cut your buffer is nearly the max length you can use without having trouble with the ratchet top cover.

Some people like the slow ROF because it's so controlable, but a lot of people here are adding buffers to speed them up. I've got a Mini UZI so it's way fast from the start.

Get those 32 rounders and have some fun!

The 40-rounders from Vector work very well and are a little cheaper than the 32-round IMI mags. The 32 round IMI mags are a must, but pick up a few 40 round mags while you're at it. They're converted, but work just fine.

Do you find your mac controllable? I've got a M9/11 om the way, but have never actually fired one.

I tested mine out last night, I too am pleased. I chopped mine down to 1 1/8.
