Hey guys,
I'm brand new to this forum & to Class 3 firearms ownership (just bought a Vector, full-size UZI SMG - still waiting for Uncle Fed-dy to throw the Holy water on me). I was thinking of buying one of Vector's 70rd drum magazines but lurking on this forum has left me unsure whether a private (no license of any kind) individual can legally own one. Can anyone clearify this?

Vector's drums are sold as unrestricted magazines. So if you live in one of the "free states" that allows normal capacity magazines you are ok to own one.

Yes, anyone in one of the "free" states can buy one but just beware that other manufactures of these types of drums have been told by ATF to stop making them.
C&S
Autowerkers
MMag
ATF told them to sell what they had and cease future production. Vector has not been told specifically and continue to make them which I personally think is taking a risk.
I had a Vector drum and it didn't run reliably after sending it back 2x but I already had a C&S drum that runs 100% so I sent the Vector one back. Search the threads for more info on the drums. You can also check out my website as I have a pictorial of the differences between the Vector and C&S drums as well as some pictures of the MMag M16 9mm drum.

all of mine worked without a hicup.the fun factor of spining, exploding, and breaking targets cant be beat.someone asked about heat,in another thread.after 4 drums the suppressor smoke cloud hangs in the air and gloves are as needed as with belt feed toys.

The one I bought ran 100% from the git-go. It's pretty cool to see all those casings in the air at one time. :D
There's a lot of speculation surrounding the legalities of Vectors drum's, but like Amphibian said they're still making them.

After the ban goes away do you think that someone will make a feed tower for the 9mm beta cmag?

Cookie or Dave: Would you be ameniable to doing an online petition of sorts which we could guage interest in such a product. If the Beta folks knew there was a lot of interest, they may make it available. We just might get a group buy set up after the ban expires.

Muzzleflash, I think having a group voice is one of the benefits of a forum like this and if members are looking for beta cmags, then we should let the manufacturer know. Any registered member can start a poll. Feel free to start one and see what people have to say. Think about the responses you create in the poll. Most people like the idea of the beta cmag but how many would really put down some money for it, and exactly how much? Happy polling!

I think it would be the ultimate for the machine gun owners and I do believe the semi folks would like it to. Just the cool factor alone would be worth the price.

Ruben thinks the cost for making the injection molds would be prohibitive. They'd have to sell thousands to break even. In other words, they need military sized contracts or huge LE interest as is the case for H&K weapons.
Maybe something can be worked out with C&S or other similar talented machine shops to build Beta towers out of Uzi mag bodies. At least a 9mm Beta drum exists thanks to all the H&K's out there.
Doesn't seem like an engineering feat to me.
