Hey guys,
Is there anyone out there that loads sub-sonic 9mm loads for a FA Vector UZI? Thought I'd load up a bunch while waiting for Uncle Fed-dy to process my paperwork but, not having my toy in hand, I can't work up a load. I'd hate to crank out a couple thousand only to find out they won't run the gun. Help?

Netherwolf, there's been some discussion on this in the past. Check out this thread:

I'm using 3.5 gr. of Bullseye under a 147gr FMJ bullet. It's subsonic and cycles nicely in my Mini UZI and MP5. It's just as quiet as Samson 158 gr factory ammo with my suppressor.
As always, I'll remind you to use other people's load data carefully - especially loads at the high or low end of the scale. Work up or down to them slowly, and remember that powder charges that are too low can be dangerous.

I use Rainier 158gr. .357 bullets and 4.0gr. of VV N340. I run the bullets through a Lee sizer down to .356. This load is pretty consistent at 950 fps and QUIET! With my Coastal can all you hear is clack clack of the bolt. YMMV!

147gr ZERO's and 5gr of Accurate #5 or Vhita Vouri 3N37. Run a bunch through friend ChuckP' Vector with my AWC MK9 at the last 2 Indiana State Subgun Shoots

I've also been using the 147 gr ZERO bullets and have been very happy with them. Plus they're a great deal! (http://www.rozedist.com)

Netherwolf,
To date, my absolute favorite subsonic load is:
Hornady 147gr FMJ
3.3gr Universal Clays
WW SP primer
OAL 1.169
This load burns really clean, resulting in less time cleaning your suppressor. The bullet is fully enclosed, so there is NO lead build up from exposed lead on the base of the bullet.
VV N340 is another good powder, but it is very hard to come by around my area, and very expensive. The Universal Clays is cheap, and easy to get. Both are clean burning!
Hope this helps!

Man, you guys don't mess around. Thanks for all the input & links. I think, however, I should have provided more info from my end. When Uncle Fed-dy blesses me, I'll be shooting a full size Vector UZI with a coastal can (if this makes a difference. Again, thanks a bunch for the replies.

Oh yeah, I just HAD to swipe the pic of the Girls With Uzis for my screen saver. I know I'll get grief from the war department if she ever sees it but hey, that why they're call PERSONAL computers he he.

UZI SBR AWC,
Went to your link. Naturally, I had to enlarge & look at every pic. One question. What's that business with "the tubes?"

One last question,
Since I'm waiting for my paperwork to clear, I don't have the gun in hand to test whatever loads I put together. So, the question is, if my loads will run a SA Mod. A or B, should they run the FA version? (Yeah yeah, I know - finding someone to let me use THEIR gun to test MY loads is another question altogether.) All comments appreciated,

No problem. The bolt in a semi is just as heavy as a full auto bolt plus you have two springs working against recoil. Blast away and them make some more.

It was a shoot all the rounds you could in (I do not recall the seconds) and hit a paper plate at 50 or 75yd with as many hits possible, of course- all rounds had to pass through the tube, gun suppprted by shooter, no resting the firearm.
Rounds that will cycle a semi-auto "A/B" will run a SMG just fine, as the operation in a semi has a striker spring and recoil spring to overcome, as a SMG has only the recoil spring.
