How does everyone keep their fullsize uzi barrel nuts from unscrewing? I recently replaced the catch, spring, and barrel nut with new Vector parts but when I shoot on full-auto after every mag the nut loosens 3-6 notches.
It hasn't gotten to the point where it loosens enough to cause light primer strikes like my old ruined barrel nut did, but it's annoying to have to retighten after every mag.
What is everyone else doing to keep their nuts secure?
:waving
My front sight also flew off while shooting today. Luckily I was able to find it and screw it back in.

Someone told me to use an O-ring, that was about 18 months ago and it hasn't loosened (sic?) since.

Why isn't it ratchiting tight? Are you missing the piece that locks in to the teeth?

I'm in agreement with Sam.

I've also seen guns that just won't stay tight, even though the barrel nut and catch seem to be fine. An o-ring between the barrel flange and barrel nut absolutely does the trick. Rubber O-rings are the easiest but they do deform/melt a bit if you get the barrel hot enough. Another option is to put a few wraps of copper wire, which will compress enough to keep pressure on the barrel nut.

P.S. I also saw this is the latest issue of SAR, way to go RD!

My gun has a brand new spring and catch that locks into the teeth tight when I'm hand turning the nut. But when shooting it still manages to come loose. I will try the copper wire trick later tonight.

Hi All:
Had trouble with mine also. I but a few drops of Blue Locktite on the threads and it never came loose again. I have taken it off a few times and it re-seals it self. Use the "blue" removeable stuff not the "Red" non removable.

A few wraps of white teflon tape on the trunnion threads will also stop the nut from unscrewing. The teflon tape is good to 550F, too.

I removed my catch at took a little off of it with a dremel to make it stick out a little further. When you see where it holds it from coming completely out you will know where to take the metal off...
Another thing I have heard both opinions... But it will save wear on the nut teeth if you hold down the catch when you tighten it, instead of ratcheting it on.
