Can anyone tell me what the disconnector stop does? I have an A model semi and I can't understand what it's used for. Thanks.

The disconnector stop ensures that the front of the disconnector is properly pointed down, which in turn ensures that the back of the disconnector is up and in a position to engage the sear. Without the disconnector stop, it's possible (but not likely) that the disconnector won't engage the sear and the gun could fire more than one round on semi-auto.
