What is the standard finish on a Vector carbine? Is it parked? a poly coat?

That is good to know. I was wondering because this could end up doing duties as a 'truck gun', and the wild temp swings here can sometimes cause condensation and all the bad things that go with it.

Phosphate is fairly durable, but it MUST be kept oiled to be as effective as it can be against rust. The phosphate layer is a conversion of the surface of the steel, forming crystals which have a comparatively large surface area in addition to large voids between the crystals. The surface area and interstitial voids act as a sponge and literally drink up incredible amounts of oil. Periodic re-oiling ensures protection against rusting, because it's the oil in the phos that repels moisture.
