I can't believe it, but I'm having a heck of time finding a Q/D stock in excellent cond. with the tensioner button assembly. Can I find just the tensioner button and spring to install myself on a stock that I got from member ADAM12 that they're missing from? I would really like to get my hands on a clean AA Q/D stock like Vector USED to sell (they're all out).

$20. You get a stock and a F/A top cover (can't be used on a semi).

JW, you can most likely order it from Vector. It will most likely be the the entire QD mounting bracket assembly, but so what. :patriot

I have some surplus stocks and they don't have the tension button on them, and well, there're surplus stocks. What I'm looking for is a really nice stock that is in new to excellent condition. Guess I'll have to look at Knob for one. I should have bought one from Vector while they still had them. I was smart enough to get one of the IMI polymer stocks though. I like this stock a lot, but it doesn't have the "look" like a wood type 4. I appreciate the tips and if anyone has a what I'm looking for, just shoot me a PM, thanks.

Sportsman's Guide has brand new beech IMI stocks, no metal for around $50, I believe. Check them out.

Also, I believe Numrichs has surplus stocks with metal, which you could steal the metal from and refinish.

The top cover. It is the ratcheting type. Semi top covers dont use a ratcheting top cover.

Johnny:
I have a laminated Uzi stock from Vector that was set up with fixed hardware that I used for another stock. The lam stock has a buttplate and rear swivel, but no mounting plate (this is an old pic), and it's quite attractive. LMK by PM if interested.

As far as the tension button, I don't use them. I just place a spring in the attachment plate spring recess and let the spring bear directly against the receiver. I get springs stiffer than real-deal Uzi tension springs from an assortment drawer at my local mom and pop hardware store. Very tight lockup. Just a suggestion.

CTD's stocks are cheap, and most are good enough that a refinish will result in a like-new looking stock. Plus, they're the normal correct length, not the ridiculously too-long ones Vector had made.
Tensioner buttons are a joke in my opinion. A piece of duct tape (one or two layers) in a small area on the metal bracket takes up all the wiggle far better than the tensioner buttons.
If you must have a tensioner button & spring, Vector or someone else probably has one.

Just to be sure before I order, that stock will fit on my Vector F/A and retain the QD feature?

Yes. I picked one of these sets up a few weeks back. It's a QD wood stock and F/A top cover.

You Sir, are the man! I'll never use a F'n tension button again! I made my IMI synthetic stock (my favorite stock) fit like it was on a permanent bracket-absolutely no wobble whatsoever. It took FIVE LAYERS of duct tape though, LOL. The other surplus wood IMI that I got from member Adam12 fits a lot better, it only took two layers. Anyhow, thanks for solving a problem endemic to the FS FA guns. As a shooter (I didn't buy my gun for collectors purposes) it's driven me crazy having a wobbly stock when I quick mount my gun. Also, if the stock is loose laterally, it can affect the dot alignment on your Docter/Fastfire sight becuase of all the movement of your eye in relation to the sight and receiver. Admittedly, this is minor, but it still exists IMO. Anyhow, thanks for all the suggestions and tips from all who posted.
