Subgun Match: chili17 is organizing the match again this year. (It’s imperative that someone beats him this year to keep him in his place.). If you’ve never shot in a subgun match before, this is the perfect time to give it a try.
There will be two divisions:
Open: Any SMG with Optics or more than 2 non standard factory features
Stock: Any SMG with less than 3 non standard factory features and no optics
Depending on how many people register, each of the divisions will be split into two or three classes with people grouped into classes based on their actual score. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards will be given out in every division & class.
Open Range shooting: Open range time is for shooting any weapons you care to bring to the event: submachine guns, machine guns, belt feds, rifles, pistols, shotguns. Bring whatever you want to shoot or share. Open shooting will be available throughout the subgun match for people not participating in the match, or people waiting for their group to be called.
Ammo: Details to follow on ammo group buy.
Other potential activities:
- A Shotgun “Jungle Walk” may be available Friday afternoon or Sunday morning.
- Demonstrations can be scheduled based on attendee interest. Demonstrations could include: Suppressor comparisons, ROF comparisons,…
- There may be a “Girls and Guns” photo opportunity on Saturday. This would be your chance to have a photo of you, your favorite gun, and a scantily clad babe – taken by a professional photographer. Details to follow.
Form 5320.20: If you’re bringing Title II weapons from out of state, you’ll need to get a 5320.20 approved. Get your forms sent in ASAP to make sure you’re ready to travel with your guns! You can use this address on the form:
Mickey's Range
3100 Beltline Rd
Dallas, TX 75227

Come and meet your some of your favorite on-line characters. This will definitely be the biggest UZI Talk event yet. Check out the UZI Talk library here (http://files.uzitalk.com/reference/pages/UTshoot2007main.htm)for information on last year's event.

That all depends on the number of people who shoot and how quickly we get people through the rotation. We'll allow people to shoot in multiple classes if time permits but it didn't last year and we'll have more people this year.

I wanted to alert people that Chili17 and I changed the subgun match divisions. They are now set up like this:
There will be Two divisions:
Open: Any SMG with Optics or more than 2 non standard factory features
Stock: Any SMG with less than 3 non standard factory features and no optics
Depending on how many people register, each of the divisions will be split into two or three classes with people grouped into classes based on their actual score. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards will be given out in every division & class.
I decided to drop the UZI divisions in recognition of the fact that this site continues to diversify. In fact I'm getting many registrations for shooters using MACs and there's no reason for them not to be on equal footing with the UZI shooters. It doesn't make sense to create divisions for each gun so we collapsed them into two divisions. We'll break out each division into classes, which gives novice shooters a chance at winning and sends more people home with awards.

02-08-2008, 10:18 PM
RoverDave, just for clarification...... What division would a MAX-10 or MAX-11 with iron sights be placed in?
I think reducing the Divisions and increasing the Class awards is a GOOD move.

Chili17 would make the final call since he's running the match but I think they should be stock class as long as they have iron sights.

There won't be time to run any side matches but certainly people can compare their scores for bragging rights. I'll announce the "fastest gun" winners when we hand out the awards.

But what about the number of non-standard parts.....?
I feel MAX-10s and MAX-11s should be in Open Division no matter the type of sights used.

.
Correct, that's the way we setup the North Texas matches. MAX-10/11s = non-factory bolt + non-factory sights + non-factory foregrip + etc. Also, most people choose to put a non-factory stock on them. They fall into Open class for sure regardless of the sights used. Now if you only had a side cocking upper, that would be another story.
Also, one thing not mentioned: Stock class must use original capacity mags - no extended mags or drums except for guns that originally came with them (like Soumis and Thompsons). That also automatically puts you into Open class regardless of the weapons config. The intent is that Stock class is very close to the original factory gun and Open is just that – open to all modifications.
Hope this clears things up.

This may be slightly off-topic. RoverDave, would you like UziTalk.com t-shirts made for the UziTalk shoot? Well it may be too late to have them made in time for UT5, but perhaps in the future? You see a co-worker of mine has a newly bought silkscreen printing machine, and I would like to help UziTalk. I could also draw a design to be printed on the t-shirts. Please contact me if you are interested. I will gladly pay for the ink and upstart costs, but not the bulk t-shirts.

I got your e-mail on the group ammo buy Dave and I appreciate all those involved in putting it together. I've got a question regarding the 9mm. Is this reloaded ammo? I ask because the Lage MAX-11 warrantee is voided if any reloads or steel case ammo is used in the upper. I'm in the process of making other arrangements but I may change my mind on 1K. Thanks!

Beltline Rd. is the old loop that runs around Dallas. Its been altered over the years and new loops have been added.
But if you place a map on the ground you can trace a circle around Dallas and usually follow Beltline Rd.
Mickey's place is South and east of downtown its on the Trinity River.
Now the Trinity River runs all over the place too, but where we are shooting is pretty much the older Ghetto/ Industrial area that runs east and west.
Its great when the rains bring the levels of the river up.
All kinds of stuff go floating buy for us to shoot.
A couple dead bodies, dead animals (right up JJims alley) construction materials, Obama campaign signs......etc..etc.

Thanks!
I'm pretty certain they aren't reloads but Chili can verify. More importantly, Richard ordered some of the group buy ammo so I guess he thinks it's okay.

Google Wilmer, TX and it will place you at I45 and Beltline. Follow Beltline east until you get to the river, the blue squiggly line that crosses Beltline. You are there.

I'm pretty certain they aren't reloads but Chili can verify. I asked about the Hunter's Shack 9mm because the 5.56 ammo is listed as coming from Dallas Reloaders. The prices are excellent and once again, I DO appreciate Chili17's involvement in putting group ammo buy in place! I wonder if people realize what a pain this is to put together?!
I asked if the ammo was reloaded. Clearly any firearms manufacturer is free to use whatever type of ammo they desire with none of the repercussions I'd suffer as an end user should a warranty situation arise from using an unapproved type of ammo. Hence the reason for my question.

03-19-2008, 05:29 PM
I believe it is remanufactured (the 9mm). It does come from hunters shack and they do load ammo for government contracts so I am sure it will be fine. It is the same stuff ya'll used last year
I've been holding off a commitment on the ammo,,, a few years ago when we were in SLC, Utah, the ammo had very hard primers that my guns wouldn't light consistently. If the ammo is the same as was provided last year, was it used in handguns reliably?

I shot some of RD's left over ammo that he gave me last year out of a glock and highpower and it worked fine.

Yeah, Haltom has three parts... Older homes, Vietnamese, and illegals. I like the Vietnamese, though. They keep to themselves, are quiet, and polite. They work their little asses off, and send their kids to college. They make good little Americans.
My neighbors (for years now) is an older Viet lady and her three daughters. She has a brain tumor and has been really sick. She don't speak a word of English, but we both speak enough French to get by. She is so sweet. Other than at Tet (when they party for a week straight) they're good folks, and they keep the strays outta the neighborhood.

OK-agreed-the early arrivals will meet in the lobby say 8:30pm-we will go to a local eatery for dinner and drinks, etc.. Why so late for dinner? I can't wait that long.

Somebody else suggested 8:30, fine with me if we meet at 6:30 and go for dinner, etc-Why don't those who want to eat get together and leave at 6:30pm, leave a msg at the front desk with location for others that want to join a little later.-Beemer:biker

My thought was at 8:30 everyone meets and hangs out in the lobby trying to decide on a place to go eat. We finally all assemble and agree and drive to the restaurant. Total time elapsed; about thirty minutes.
The restaurant prepares a table/tables for a large group and we eventually get seated. Each one in our group looks over the menu and makes their decision and the waitress takes our order. Another thirty minutes have gone by and it's now 9:30PM.
I don't know how many restaurants will be open past 10:00PM on a Thursday night in our area. Just running this scenario thru my over active mind.... :thinking
I'm flexible, but 8:30 seems late to get started..... Other thoughts?

Here's Dave's original post on this thread. This event requires registration and payment when you enter. Last year, Dave set up a table and was taking payment most of the weekend. Wrist bands were used to identify those who had paid. If I understand correctly, Dave essentially leases the land from Mickey for the weekend and all RANGE FEE funds go directly to him. Last year food was delivered/served on site and there's payment required for that when you enter if you haven't made plans to bring something to eat and drink. Please note that the gate is locked at all times except those one hour periods noted in one of Dave's later posts.
Dave and Chili17 ARE the chiefs. I hope I got this correct.
Come and celebrate five successful years of uzitalk.com! Back by popular demand, the 5th Annual UZI Talk shoot will be returning to the Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas area.

As noted earlier, this event is primarily for the benefit of regular UZI Talk members and not set up to be a public event. I'm happy to see members bring one or two friends or family members along. We're really not geared up for more than that and I think we're near the capacity I feel comfortable with.

FYI, SubGunFan's "little surprise" is that he made some terrific UZI Talk name badges for all the members that registered prior to this week. We've already run into a bunch of guys at the hotel - Scootertrash, beachinbeemer, kaen3e, bigjason, 416rich, kwm1970, m11stuff. Others were here earlier and went to dinner but I haven't run into them yet.
