I see these 22 conversion kits for G3 rifles (HK91) that are floating around. Has anyone used them? They look nice. I wanted to use one with with registered trigger pack. I assume since they are military surplus they work with a full auto trigger pack, but can someone confirm. thanks.

Shot ones years ago but it does nothing for me. Much more fun with a Ruger 10/22. The only difference between the FA and semi kit is the semi carrier has a piece sticking out the back. Most of the kits now have the FA carrier.

Yes, most of the ones out are FA kits and they run fine. Some are ammo sensitive depending on how strong the recoil spring on the kit happens to be.
IIRC they fit the standard 18" barreled guns...this may be an issue as JLD has different barrel lengths out for their HK91 clones.
Sear pack should work fine but you may need to use a 9mm hammer spring instead of a .308 hammer spring. They are surprisingly accurate and quiet for a .22 conversion. Most seem to be in the $500 range for the kit with 2 mags in close to excellent condition.

As the others have pointed out the bolts are the same the difference is the carrier. The FA G3 will not have the 2" carrier extension on the rear where the semi 91 will have it. If you wind up with a FA kit and run it with a semi trigger pack the problem is the bolt travel is too long (w/o the extension) when cocking the action. The bolt will hang up and jam against the hammer. Put a 2" section of plastic tubing over the recoil rod and this will prevent the over travel issue. That tip via Buddy at Sturm.
The FA trigger pack holds the hammer lower due to the sear catch thus no jamming issues.
My gun is built on an FMP receiver and the German hammer was too tall and would strike the carrier extension of a semi kit before contacting the FP. I replaced it with a US made hammer and it's GTG.
This kit actually belongs to a friend that could not get it to run due to the hammer height thing. I have had it for about a month since I sorted things out with it and we have shoot a couple hundred rounds thru it so far. It seems very accurate and the 20 rd mags load easily. We ran the standard 308 hammer spring and using HV ammo the kit functioned fine.
I've not shoot it FA yet since the trigger pack was set up in an MP5K that day. We will give the G3 kit another try FA some time in March.
The problem is this - everyone who shot it has enjoyed it and walked away wanting one for themselves. As far as a 10/22 being more fun well I do love my 10/22's but this is a different animal. It's fun to practice with a big battle rifle for mere pennies per trip.

The other thing to consider...you have a .22 kit in a 9 pound gun with a folding tripod. Add a decent scope and an Eagle or Spec. Ops. cheek rest pouch with the Lamisuede cheek piece (google it) along with a wooden PSG style grip from DS Arms and the gun just molds to you. You can still keep up minute-of-angle shots at 100yd with the hopped-up 10-22 guys on the bench...then screw a suppressor on and hit the fun button for a 20rd mag dump...in a nice tight circle (because a 9 pound gun isn't going to jump much). Then just give your best shit-eatin grin and load another mag up. The looks on their face is priceless.
I just got my second kit last week. I wanted the two extra mags not to mention all the spare parts. My kit runs great with my sear, very accurate. Grins from ear to ear every time someone shoots it. I got both kits from www.dansammo.com $400.00 each. These thing are going to dry up, and you will wish you had pick one up. also check www.hkpro.com for range reports on .22 kits.

My kit arrived last week but I won't have a chance to try it out until the weather warms up. I'm anxious to see how well it works.

I ordered one from Cope after Dave said Dan's Ammo was out. It came in on Friday after I ordered on Monday. The box and magazine show some wear but the carrier and barrel look new. I slapped that bad boy in and without any cleaning (or lube for that matter) it burned through two mags without a hitch.
This is bar none one of the slickest 22 conversions I have ever seen. I sure wish my subcal unit worked like this!
Here is a good link which shows the "rubber hose" fix for 91s. I didn't dot it as all you need to remember is to not pull the charging handle all the way back.

I finally got my kit out last night and got it to work. As mentioned above, a person needs to run a 9MM hammer spring to get the kits to work correctly. At least that was the way it was with my gun. FA worked well. I am very pleased. That is probably the nicest 22 kit I have worked with.
