FMP green slimline handguards for 91,?Ventilated??

Just purchased and recieved New FMP tropical green slimline handguard(RTG Parts..).. for a '91...These guards have like 24 ventilation slots "molded" into the guard,BUT molded only on the exterior,and not drilled through .....what gives here...I want the guard to be ventilated ,do I have to drill,machine the slots-out,or what..??....Is this normal for FMP..???Any ideas would be helpful..!!

thats std , the slots on my HK are not slotted all the way thru either

Thats the way they all are, A dremil will open them up and aid in cooling.
