Interesting thread on Subguns dealing with suppressors that switched to Ruger's replacement policy. A couple of people indicated Ruger's pre-May 1986 supply of AC556 receivers is now gone. Anyone know for sure?

No, Ruger does NOT "keep a supply of receivers for this purpose". You are very, very wrong about that.

Ruger used a supply of receivers with different serial numbers that were all still manufactured prior to 5/19/86, all fully transferable, that they drew from to replace damaged ones. That supply has been exhausted for some time. Ruger CANNOT replace any more damaged receivers with transferable ones, their supply is gone.

It used to be that when they repaired a damaged gun, they amended the registry to show the replacement with a different serial number. This can no longer be done. The only AC556 receivers they will replace with a new one are for Post-86 guns.

The time window has passed when you can get a damaged transferable guns' receiver replaced with a new receiver. This has been the case for well over a year.

From what I understand Ruger no longer has preban registered receivers for warranty replacement purposes. However, I know of two seperate instances in the pat two years where Ruger replaced an entire AC556 because the receiver was damaged beyond repair.

In the first case Ruger replaced a fullsize AC556 with a used replacement. The owner had to pay the transfer tax, but he got a replacement rifle at no additional cost. The whole process took nearly a year.

In the second instance Ruger replaced a AC556K with a NIB one from their inventory. Again, the owner had to pay the transfer tax, but he got a new gun.

After speaking to the shop foreman at Ruger about these two instances, (I am thinking of sending my shorty back for a refurb) I believe they are true accounts. Just passing this info on for what its worth.

If your C2 SOT replaces your old damaged receiver with a new one, but with the same serial number, this is a BIG NO NO. There have been a couple SOT's out there that been nailed for it!

Just a :2cents

For suppressors thats legal to do, but only suppressors (for how I understand it).

According to this, it's not allowed for suppressors anymore either.
