I have my two mini GB's against the wall and what a beautiful sight it is to behold. I just baught a mint /used GB model ser# prefix 580 yesterday, with a 16" barrel and LE Govt only markings. The gun is blued with the black polymer stock, and eventhough it lacks the bayo lug, I don't care. The bayo lugs were deleted from the newer GB's, but the most attractive and unique feature, is the 16" barrel with flash hider. I dont think there's room for a bayo lug even if they wanted to instal one. But like I said, it's not even an issue. Man do I love this little GB, it's the coolest one I've ever seen.

I wish I knew how to post pix on this site. I'm not all that computer savvy with technical things so I'm at somewhat of a disadvantage. My girlfreind has a digital camera, and I think it needs a new disk to get back up and running, so I will try when we get the disk. Or, maybe we can have a tactical rifle mixed into a subgun match up the road, and maybe Todd the video God will get some pix posted after the match.

Yeah! that's the one exept mine is not stainless. I like them either way, I have a freind who is a class 2 MFG, I think may be able to order another one for me because I believe he does LE sales as well as civilian sales. How much do they go for in price to LE agencies?

That is hard to say. Ruger negotiates sales to agencies on a case by case basis through their distributors. A single rifle likely would therefore run a few dollors more than the comparable civillian Mini. Current retail prices are around $800 for standard Ranch models, although most distributors sell for much less......usually in the $650 to $700 range.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

very nice.

I like the new style. I certainly like the old style better but its nice to see Ruger is still in the game :)

Your right too Jason. My buddy on the PD grabbed one for his patrol rifle and thats about what he paid.

Well I guess I did pretty well because I paid $599 for mine and even though it was used, the gun was unfired in the original box, all paperwork and manual included. I only got one factory 20 round mag though. That's the only down side of being the second owner of this brand new GB. I guess the other factory 20 got pimped off into someone elses gun collection somewhere in between me and the previous owner. I got to shoot it the other night, and I noticed that my groups were about two inches low at 75 feet. I set the rear sight about three turns counter clockwise, which brought my groups to the center of where I was aiming. I must admit, I was surprized that it was necessarry to set the sights on this rifle. Is it standard practice for Ruger to sell these rifles without sighting them in at the factory?

You did very well I would say.

Yes, it is. They only function test them before they leave the factory. This is not an unusual practice for many manufacturers. If you get a rifle that shoots to point of aim out of the box it is just luck.

That's good to hear, I alway's expect the worst because I have run across defective firearms in the past, new and used as well. I had to turn the rear sight out about three to four turns to get the point of impact to come up to the center. How many turns do I have untill I run out of thread? I was shooting at 75 feet on a bench rest. I must say that this little rifle certainly is accurate enough, but not to the same level as your standard M-16 or AR. Very nice little carbine though, I'm very happy with it and I have a freind who say's he has a brand new one in the box at his gun store, so I may be getting another one. I realy love this model with the 16" barrel, why did'nt they do this from the very beginning?
