May be a silly question, but I will still ask it.

I just bought my AC and with the fact that Ruger is in short quantities of barrels remaining, is there a manufacturer out there that makes a dedicated 22lr barrel for the AC556?
Or a complete conversion kit that supplies a barrel?

I do not want to run round after round through the barrel that it comes with.

Well I think your big issue would be how to swap barrels. It is not like an AR where you pop one upper off and the next on.

You would have to have the tools and time and the know how to swap them. I dont know how the barrels are held in so I can not give you an exact answer.

Any decent barrel maker and/or gunsmith should be able to make the barrel, it will just cost you.

I did not know that, being the green newbie I am. Thanks for that info.
I guess the smartest thing to do is shoot it, and when/if the darn barrel goes away, worry about it then!

Or...............

Does anyone know where I can find an extra barrel?

Parts are very hard to find. Ruger doesn't sell parts. I'm in line for one of these parts kits if they come through. If I were you, I'd get in while you can.

Shaws also makes a replacement barrel and charges $70 for installation.
