AC556F w/ATI Strikeforce

Just finished modifying this stock to fit my AC556. Still have a few minor adjustments to make.

Wow

that sure looks real sharp. I have never been too high on the AR looking, hi speed / low drag style ACs as I have always personally preferred the classic look but I have to admit.... that looks real nice and I bet it handles great too.

I tell you an AC set up like that makes for a real nice tactical package with a lot of practicality to it.

Looks Great! I modified a Butler Creek folder to accept an AR collapsable stock for my AC....very similar to your result here. I think it works great for practical use. I am sure you will appreciate the functionality when you get to shoot it.

I like the stock. It looks very nice.
I hate the Buttstock. I dont want my ac-556 to look like an AR. The AC has no need for a buffer tube and stock makers that use AR parts for the sake of cost or to make something look like an AR because they think everthing needs to be like ARs is not for me.
In the folded position that stock is like a 2X4. It should be slimer and not designed around a buffer tube that it doesnt need.
I will say that it looks better than the SCAR stock from clyde, and I bet costs a lot less, but still needs some design work on that buttstock.

There is a folding mechanism on the Strikeforce. Did you mean Ace stock?

The buffer tube is commercial size and plastic. It is not threaded like AR tubes. It look like the M4 SOCOM and ultra light modular stocks may fit with some alterations. I own both of these stocks. This weekend I am going to see if they will fit.

Yes. It also include three 2" picatinny rails and 5 inserts (installed where rails are not used).

I removed the stock the other day to see if it was possible to attach a Ace M4 SOCOM stock. It would not be possible without permanently modifying the adapter. The strikeforce adapter ID for the tube is small and not threaded. It also have a slot to keep it from turning.

I can get some pics of it folded and post them later on today. I'll also get some pics of the stock removed and hardware.

As for now, I do not plan on changing the stock. I think it work and feels great.

OK......I've been wanting to get another stock and put my folder away in the safe. I had been looking at this stock and after reading your posts here and on ac-556 I decided to go ahead and buy it. So...... how hard was it to inlet the stock? Any tips on best way?

I was determine to do it myself and not pay to have it done. I figured if I jacked it up, I could order another stock body.

I'll give you some advice, but hopefully someone with more experience can reply. Just keep in mind I did not have the best tools. I made use of what I had.

-Do not use a dremel tool cutting disc. It will melt the plastic. I started off with one, but later on swith to a drill bit.

-Take your time. My buddy (gunsmith) recommended I use tape to outline my original stock then transfer it to the strikeforce for reference.

-Try not to remove too much at one time. Just a little at a time and install parts to see if they fit.

-Purchase some JB Weld :D If you make a mistake, you can fill it in and paint it.

Shawn.....I liked the looks of it so much I ordered one and put it on my ac. I used a 1/2" end mill with my drill press to mill out the stock to fit and it worked like a charm. It seems you need one pass on the top side to make room for the disconnect bar and one pass on the bottom side to make room for the disconnector and selector linkage. I'm really happy with the stock. If you're going to put a front grip on my suggestion would be to use one of the side rails on the bottom instead of the one that is for the sling swivel stud. The rails aren't that long and the swivel stud reinforcement on the bottom rail is right in the middle where the screw to tighten the grip needs to go. I'm going to add a rail in the middle of the bottom of the stock for the front grip.

Take a look at this guy Mini 14. He used a YHM 7" rail at the bottom.

I have a TROS adapter that is 1/2 x 28 that I use with a suppressor. When I don't have the suppressor on I screw on a birdcage black gun flash suppressor. I'm looking at doing the same ( the rail on the bottom. It looks like I'll need to either mill down the 2" rail that is mounted on the bottom or make a spacer in order for the rail to fit flat on the bottom and parallel to the barrell.

Let me know what you come up with for a bottom rail. I think rail on the top cover should have been extended further.

I already have a metal rail that came with the grip......I just need to take time to mill the 2" rail flat and make it even with the rest of the stock. I thought the same thing about the top rail. I might try and mount an extended rail on the top and have it extend back more....... again its the spacer that makes the rail even or parallel to the barrel that is the joker to doing it.

These are very nice stocks. I just did one for a customer. The receiver is held in by the molded stock and the front of the receiver has a metal gas shield. Your AC556 stock hardware stays in your AC556 stock - you don't move it over to this stock.
