Early last week I went shopping for an alternative to the cocking knob for my uzi. I currently have joeblacks topcover rail that works great, but it crowds the space for the cocking knob.

Here is a video of me at one subgun stage:

Now here is a buddy shooting the same stage, but has problems with mag seating and the cocking knob...

right click, save as...(1.3MB) (http://home.comcast.net/~frisco_kid/images/movies/MOV00015.mpeg)

As you can see, the side cocking knob would have saved him the 10-15 sec...

I sent joeblack some ideas and he came up with a rough design. By last Friday, I had one delivered.

When I first installed the knob, I was pumped. It looked good and wasn't too heavy. I was a little concerned about the length, but it's fine.

I will say joeblacks knob fits better than the stock knob. I say better because it fits tighter in the slots. There is no lateral movement at all. Your results may very.

After I installed the topcover, I practiced rapid reloads with empty mags...Overall it felt good and seemed faster. I will field test next weekend, with my next match scheduled for March.

Thanks again joeblack!

Enjoy the pics...

Okay, okay, where do we all go to get a joeblack side cocker for our uzis ?? I did not see any links, and I am new at this, so please forgive me if not following protocol.

joeblack's side cocker is a great addition to you UZI. It has great fit and finish.

I just received my side cocking knob from Joe Black. It's great! Moving the bolt back for reloads is faster, and also won't cut up your fingers like the original cocking knob can.

Also, the one-finger length I believe is perfect. Its definitely large enough to do the job but not too large to get in the way.

This is a must-have for all uzi aficionados. ;)

Has anyone used his two finger sidecocker handle (yikes, that is ripe for innuendo!) or the folding one-finger sidecocker handle?

I am very interested to know if the folding one is worht the extra money- gotta get rid of that damn knob!

I've got one of JB's two finger cockers:D Its really nice. It gives you a good feel when racking it back and letting it go home(semi)
the quality was excellent and it works great with the red dot on the topcover.

The folder might be better because when I have the side cocker on. I can't sit the uzi down flat on the sidecocker side it make the uzi teter tater on the cocker.

Does anyone have a picture of the folding cocker? If so, I'd really like to see what it looks like.

Not enough interest to make the folding cocker's. I can only make them per order.

Your camera is broken and your Uzi was hidden outside in the bushes.
