I bought a couple of cases of IMI black tip 9mm ammo and took it out shooting yesterday. I think I can safely say that while I like the performance, it is easily the dirtiest 9mm I have ever shot. There was unburned power in the barrel, on the bolt,
covering the inside of the receiver, and even in the mag well. There was thick black soot on the chamber, feed ramp, and barrel tip. fairly thick grey sooty build up on the bolt and two little spots of rust forming this after noon on the inside of the receiver and bottom of the bolt.

After you shoot, use gunscrubber on you weapon. Stuff works great until you get home to take it apart for a good cleaning.

Load Blue Dot its clean you can make loads as good if not
better than the black tip stuff out of the loading books
and still be in specs.

If you reload, try using Vihtavoury Oy powder. It burns fast and clean.

As far as scrubbing, try using break Free & a nylon brush, then blast it with Gun Scribber, it all comes right off. Then coat it with oil because gun scrubber takes away all the moisture.

I think you ment that gunscrub takes away all of the oil not the moisture.

Correct. Gunscrubber is great, but you have to apply oil after using it.

Soteaser, there was a thread on the Hirtenberger +P+ awhile back. At one point, I heard from a dealer not to use it in hot weather in a SMG, as it could blow out the back of the receiver. I have some but haven't tried it FA yet. I did chrono it in a carbine and it ran 150-200fps faster than the usual 9mm ammo, and ran just great.

Paul, you better ship me that stuff for cold weather use.

I read somewhere (probably here on uzitalk) that Hirtenberger +P+ ammo was made only for troops in extremely cold weather............

Sounds like it is burning rich... Need to add more air to it...Open the damper a little more....

Or try replacing the "muffler bearings" along with a new set of "chem light" batteries. Now that will make that black tip ammo REALLY SCREAM.........
