If you have a M11 or M10 and use a "Can" that has spanner wrench holes in the end cap, I'll make a "Can" lock for you to evaluate. I use my Coastal UZI can on my M11, I'm making a lock now.

Let me know.

Since most of the problems come from folks who want to use a forward grip (otherwise, why not just hang onto to the can?) , and this device would likely preclude the use of other forward grip designs, I think the most useful thing would be to come up with a forward grip with an integrated can locking device...

I'm thinking something along the lines of a grip with slots following the diameter of the spanner holes to allow for the pins to be moved/indexed. Spring loaded pins allowing for easy release (when you want to, of course!) would be nice as well.

I use a CAC9 on my M11\9 and there are no spanner holes in the rear portion of the can. A healthy dose of teflon tape and a strap wrench work well until somthing better comes along.

Actually I believe that someone allready made a can lock for mac type guns. Can't remember his name, but I have seen it posted before.

Chilli17 has it right. Teflon tape and a strap wrench work well, and there is a guy that makes a can lock for any MAC can.

This stuff is fun to make and might help some people out. I might be in a minority on using a UZI can on a Mac....

I use a UZI Coastal Can (has spanner wrench holes) Below is what the adapter looks like. I'll post pics of the lock later today.

Ya, mounting the locking pins on the grip is a good idea.

The split collar clamps the barrel flange by the socket head cap screw you see in the picture. I wouldn't use the set screw collar type.

This collar is too wide and the pins were too long. I cut the pins, but, I'll have to make a collar. This was a "off the shelf collar". Haven't shot it yet, but I don't think it's gonna come loose now!

I like the Can Lock posted. Looks robust. Is there someone that manufactures one for the M11 using a Coastal can designed for the M11. My Coastal can has spanner holes front and rear.

Thanks

I have a M10 with a Coastal M10 Suppressor. My problem is when I screw it on tight the barrel unscrews when I take it off. I am going to have to set it with some locktight.

I noticed if you hold on to it (left hand, thumb pointing down so it don't unscrew) to keep it tight you can't see thru the sights.

Sounds pretty neat with the 45s.

Stymie, what you have IS the ORIGINAL CANLOK.. I know cause I came up with the idea and name a number of years ago..Guys kept complaining of how their cans were unscrewing and they were getting baffle strikes. So I thought the CANLOK up. A simple ,easy to use ,very effective little item..Guess what , every SOT and C3 were e-mailing me wanting a pic.. Not to buy one , but so they could steal the whole concept..Lots of guys out there that cannot come up with something on their own, so they work off someone elses back ..I machined them up out of solid aluminum , and sold them for $20.00 shipped..Made lots of them up for lots of diff cans and weapons combos. Have not made up any in a while , quit posting them and have gone onto lots more profitable products..Let the copycats have them and charge double what I did..That is one of mine Stymie,, Thanks for your order.. jb

"I am the sole originator / designer of any and all "Can" locks" in the world. I designed the Internet before I thought of it. No one, I repeat, no one could have ever came up with such an simple idea as a "can lock".

JB, isn't it amazing how many times different people come up with the same idea! you figured out the way to keep your can from coming un-screwed, and so did joeblack. I watched him come up with the idea, and we talked about how it would work best.
I suppose some day, someone will patent that idea, and think they came up with an original idea too.
but that sort of thing happens when a lot of different people are trying to accomplish similar goals.
nice work on your "canlock", and glad you can appreciate someone else's efforts to achieve a similar result. that is what makes uzitalk such a great resource, everyone trying to help everyone else out.
