Local fun shop took a nice HK93 w/5 mags in on trade. Asking price is $3200, how does that price sound? I can't recall seeing a 93 in a very long time and have no idea on current values.

I got $2700 for one of mine about eighteen months ago w/ 3 mags, sling and bipod in excellent condition. With today's crazy market, $3200 is probably about right. If you reload, keep in mind that the 91 and 93 rifles are VERY unkind to carttidge cases. For that much money, I would rather have a SIG 556 or an FN SCAR.

Have seen several nice ones in the $2800 range the past few months.

Magazines are going for $65-$70/ea so you have to factor that in.

IMHO, look before you leap. I got rid of all my 33/93 weapons because of difficulty finding spare parts and mags. HK 91/G3 is a totally different story.

I bought a very nice condition 93 recently (A2) for $2200.00 Keep an eye on the Sturm website. You have to be patient but, they will pop up from time to time for, what I believe, is their actual value. Just be ready to pounce on it when it does show up they don't last very long at all.

Probably has a 1/12 twist barrel, so 55 grain bullets are a must. Loved my 93, but sold it due to only being accurate with 55 grain ammo. 62 grainers would keyhole.

$3200 sounds kind of high. Depends on what mags come with it. 40 round aluminum ones seem to be tha cheapest, 25 round steel the most expensive.

Military Gun Supply has 40 round aluminum mags for $35 (used). Cope's and others had 33 parts sets not too long ago (Malaysian?) but they seem to have dried up.

what part of the HK system wears out? do the rollers wear out and need to be replaced with bigger rollers, or does the barrel throat get eroded? what is the life expectancy of an HK 93, and what kinds of parts replacements would be needed before it reached retirement?

I've had good luck with gunbroker.com and gunsamerica.com, if you don't mind an auction style format:

Of course you'll have to set up an account and all, but it's worth it in my opinion. Good luck!

Iceberg... that sure looks a lot like my old 93 (shown here in varmint configuration):

I sold it when I was a director of The Washington Arms Collectors at one of their gun shows. The picture shows the Robar NP-3 finish, KDF muzzle brake, PSG-1 trigger group/pistol grip, 6.5x24 Leupold, Harris bi-pod, cheek piece/extended buttpad... this set up had zero recoil and I took massive numbers of prairie dogs in MT in the late 80's with it.

My only issue when I had My V93 was ..

I had to pay more for a lower capacity Magazine, not everyone wants a 40rd boomerang shaped mag .

Even last year at shows NIB 93's were only goin for $2100

All of HK factory firearms are durable and you can find HK parts, but very pricey. The only part I had to replace was the extractor springs when using suppressors after 4000rds. Personally I havenít been able to wear out a factory HK rifle. If the rifle has a factory spec set-up I doubt you will need a lot of spare parts and thereíre class2 gunsmiths that specialize in HK builds.

Rollers, but you'll probably never have to do it on a factory semi auto. The 91s and 93s I bought back in 1983 are still on their original parts.

With full autos you will want some spare extractor springs, a set of replacement rollers and maybe a recoil spring. NASA documented a MP5 with over 571,000 rounds and only small parts were replaced such as the above mentioned parts.

It was taken out of service because the barrel was done. The MP5 could have been brought back into spec with a new barrel but it was cheaper for NASA to simply buy a new MP5 than to have HK rebarrel the existing one.

Wow!! I bought a used HK-93A2 (IB) back in 2007 for $1900.00 and now I'm glad I did since I thought that the asking price was a little too high and was going walk away from it.

Be prepared to shell out around $50.00 for 30rds, HK made, magazines.

A few things.

One, it's not a 91, two it's not an A3 and three it doesn't appear to be an HK.
